but of course i don't think it's feasible nor will it happen.

at the rate we're going now and at the rate other countries are progressing, even 'Goal 2050' or beyond we might not be able to make it.

I would say the Singapore Sports School is a good start. I mean, the whole environment, while emphaising on sports, also help to emphaise the education aspect too. That should be enough to convince parents to let their children bring glory to the nation, and as well as ensuring that they do not neglect their studies.

When Goal 2010 was introduced, i think it was plain obvious that it was not meant literally that we MUST qualify for the World Cup by then, but instead, it was a benchmark used, for us to gauge by then just where we are in terms of international soccer. When 2010 comes about, the S-League would have been in its 14th year of professional existence. We should see for ourselves just how we fare in Asia by then. And judging from the time since Avramovic became the national coach, I would say we are on track to becoming one of Asia's top 10 nations by that time. At the very least, it should be the bare minimum. Or else, we would have to take a long and hard look at ourselves and ask what's wrong.

The govt has been doing a great job. Remember DOHA games? They pulled out our water polo teams and another sports (forget liaoz) so that the soccer teams can go and play. Remember? BEfore opening ceremony... Our soccer team is back in singapore. Its DOHA games rite? or was it another event?

Sg has also been spending bucks in trying to make the stadiums a "world-class" standard like paying better money for the grass in the stadiums... Currently the best pitch gotta be the one in Jalan Besar stadium?

Foregin imports of "talented" soccer players... Another big cost of expenses for singapore. Giving them citizenship of Sg and accomodation isit?

I mean... The govt is doing all their best to make singapore soccer a better standard... But... are our players getting anywhere? Lots of money being pump into the dreams of GOAL 2010. But now its 2007. 3 more years onli. Can it be done?

I am asking this because I have been living this dream ever since the govt announced GOAL 2010. I still remember watching world cup and soccer reviews and there were GOAL 2010 @ the back of the screen... Makes me feel proud.. But as the years past by.. What has happen? Where is that goal?

If we admit the fact that singapore soccer can't make it to world class. Then perhaps the govt shld stop pumping so much money into the local soccer league and focus on other potential sports like Swimming, Water polo, Table tennis, Shooting, Gymnasis etc....

These are the sports that we see a future in it. Yet, its under-rated compared to soccer. @ least soccer we have S-League. But what abt other sports? Should other sports have the privilege like S-League too?

tell me what the govt have done to local football ???????

So? The main thing is that if we reach World Cup, don't tell me u realistically think we stand a chance of winning? Look, it will be a happy day for Spore should we reach the World Cup. I doubt most people will expect us to go far after that. And what the fans want is to see committment and pasison from the team. That's something that was missing in the Malaysia team, that's why there was this huge uproar. Don't think its only about the result.

I for one, will still support the National Team even if they get thrashed left, right and centre, AS LONG AS they show us the fire, desire and passion.
