Some context for the videos.
Soldiers on Operation Ilaaj on that fateful day had been taking fire from RPGs and small arms in the vicinity.
Anyone who carries something resembling a weapon is fair game in the rules of engagement.
The van that arrived about five minutes later to evacuate the casualties had two children sitting in the front seat ?! Very strange !
Why are they carrying children to the battlezone?
The Reuters staff were not journalists. The two were a camera man and his assistant. They were not embedded with the US army. The Army did not know of their presence in the battle zone.
The videos which are 1 to 5 minutes long were heavily edited. If looked hard enough, can see that there were two men tagging behind the Reuters staff who carried something that resembled AK-47s.
Troops dispatched to investigate did found some weapons. Apart from the camera, RPG launchers and a round and AK-47s were also found near the bodies of those killed.
