urm, u guys need to find out more abt the word halal
It doesnt mean no pork only. Generally, Muslims can eat only food that are prepared according to the Muslim rites, especially on meat.
Plus not all kind of food can be consumed, such as certain type of seafood, which is one of Japanese main food type.
Besides, some food are not made from pork, but may contain stuff from pork. Remember there is one big hooha in Indonesia when they found out that the MSG Aji-no-moto contains certain extracts from pigs? We wouldnt noe.
As to which type of food is considered halal also vary from country to country. SG's Muis has different definition of halal from Malaysia's one.
Unless your Muslim fren is a liberal Muslim who eat anything that is non pork, otherwise, very hard.
I think Sakae is certified halal.
Glad that u clarified what halal means cos there's a lot of pple out there who dont understand the meaning of it. Its gd that there are more & more eating establishments that are getting the halal cert. esp for converts like me.
I stop taking pork & alcohol eversince I converted of cos I needed to get used the idea of not taking pork (esp my fav bahkua). But its not just about not having pork or lard. Like the new foodcourt in Century Sq where they're promoting it as no pork no lard. But so what, I still wont be able to have the chicken or red meat unless I know its sluaghtered & prepared in the halal manner.
some commented to me that its so inconvenient to find halal food. Initially I felt that way cos its still difficult to find certain food eg gd dimsums. But I think the food industry is opening up their eyes now & realise that the muslim market its qt big & it be a loss to not attract these grp of pple.
For me, I dont look out particualrly for halal certified places. Fr eg I eat at Jack's place cos I've made enquires & they have informed that their meat are halal. But they cant have the halal cert cos they serve wine.
In the long run, I hope to be more particular though & hope that there'l be more eating establishments with halal cert.
Kudos to those establishments that have become certified halal!
