after graduating from bmt i realised that bmt food especially breakfast is atrocious compared to unit. char kway tiao, bee tai bak and some other bfast menus all looks the same but just with different....totally black, totally oily and totally tasteless. might as well go back bunk eat instant noodles

in unit breakfast is so much better. can always choose between bread or noodles/rice/beehoon/chicken pie etc. lunch and dinner also not bad lah. better than my mum's cos she uses almsot no salt and oil
as for outfield food i only can distinguish between 3 choices: spicy, gluttinious rice, and non-gluttiious plus non spicy.spicy is best. followed by gluttinious rice. the last one is better fed to wild boars..

Come try Airforce one. I think the suckest… Even their canteen suckz… Why? becos only got 1 stall. Farking no choice. Either cookhouse or canteen with only 1 stall. Somemore the Canteen operator sometime AP serve farking cold food. Farking ass. Cookhouse somemore need to work 30 mins then can reach. Farking far and we don’t get to eat the icecream and stuff but only rotten fruits. All the regulars get to enjoy all the nice dessert. i think they all deserve to die. Farking wasting taxpayers money only.

i think cook house food is pretty good now compared to what i had 10+ years ago when food was still cooked by army guys.
But i actually think combat ration then was better since most of the combat ration then had glutinous rice (thou it was the only edible one),now they have all sorta funny menu, what seafood rice,pasta......normal plain glutinous rice taste better than these anyday.
Also the combat ration last time had a coffee by nescafe that is in a long brown sachet form, that was the best as actually do not even need to boil water for it,it taste good by itself just tear a opening and pour the coffee mixture straight into the mouth, taste abit like chocolate too just that it is a bit bitter, very good for moments when there is just no time to boil coffee but a caffeine quick pick me up is needed.Fruit bars also tasted better last time

i still like the old tekong night snack. popiah kalipok samosa all come in a box split among platoon. late comers got no share.

CDO cookhouse has got nice food during my NS time. duno now still the same standard or not, myb got improve...i'm not sure about the rest of the units but when i was in CDO i can get to choose to eat muslim or non muslim food. so i got more variety to choose from .

If its recent, then you've never tasted how it was like before SFI took over.
Brick-like rice, soggy red bean pau just to name 2.
I had that throughout my army life

Wait till u see how my cook make nasi brayani......see liao wanna puke
Somemore the whole cookhouse infested with rats, saw a bloody big rat nibbling on a loaf of bread when i went to collect breakfast for outcamp.
Somemore my cook catch the rat in trap & place ontop of the water boiler.....u see how fast the rat jump coz the boiler cover very hot

Only managed to taste SFI during reservist, super good food leh, got ice-cream to eat somemore & nowadays not allowed into the cooking area.

Post 1998 batches can enjoy the catered style food.
I still remember the cao ah beng cooks with their 'less rice more rice all the same' pattern, the famous pork cubes, fish fingers (on a good day) and rice topped with cockroaches.
I remember the COS duty spec who had to make sure we ate most of our food at the disposal point, and clean up our mess trays (yes YES MESS TRAYS!) before placing back at the collection point.
I remember all of us craving for canteen break coz the food was simply unbearable.
I remember the only time i enjoyed food was in Taiwan...and Australia.
How times have changed.
Our outfield rations still have not adopted pressure cooked food yet; how sadly primitive.

haha...wah piangz..... pork cubes orange in colour.
the fish finger, as a civilian after leaving army i never touch fish finger anymore.
then still got the sichuan vegetable, never wash and it taste horrible
the most horrible is the rice balls, the ah beng cooks always have to pour cabbage soup over it so as to make it more edible

I'm still in service.
I actually preferred Tekong Cookhouse food. They really feed you well.
I went to the Navy before. Their serving is big and food is good!
Of cos if given a choice, army food would be last in the list. They might tried to come out with different dishes like laksa, fish and chips etc but it only has the look, not the taste.
