    • Hi Guys

Just updated the service pack 2 for XP recently. After tht i cant surf even though the modem is connected to the net.

Strange thing is tht i can browse the net for a minute or two. After tht, it wont get anywhere. Tried to bck to the previous page but also cannot.

Thought it might be my Lan driver not updated for XP. Download a updated driver on another pc and installed on the XP machine also didnt solve the prob.

Already scan my pc for viruses but none appear. Really miss using my Xp machine since lots of stuff is in it.

Hope to hear you guys soon. Thanks.

    • Go control panel, under add/remove programs, totally remove SP2 from your system. If you know how to use system restore, even better. Leave no trace of SP2 behind on ur comp. Very Happy

    • Hi chunyong

Already download the lastest driver for my modem.

The problem is tht i can connect to the net and browse for a few minutes. After tht, the modem connection is on but the Internet Explorer cant load any web pages.

Just been told not to load SP2. Seems everybody is encountering more problems than good !

      Any expert coment on this?

    • Did you read their details before installation? Guess not. Heres the link:

      http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/sp2_whattoknow.mspx

Heres an important line from the above link:

Using your existing programs: Service Pack 2 can change how some of your existing programs work, especially programs that use the Internet.

These changes are designed to help protect your PC and your information. For example, Windows Firewall is turned on by default. For more information about using your programs with Service Pack 2, go to the Security Center in Control Panel and click "What's new in Windows to help protect my computer."

      Very Happy

    • Do you know that SP2 has a integrated firewall in it?? Maybe is the firewall causing all the trouble??? have you try to disable it?
