i bought a Lowe Pro backpack last yr thinking that it was better, i was wrong. the padding was mininial and the nylon was thin. as a result of my studies and photography sessions half way, i went down to the crumpler shop to get the Formal Lounge camera bag. the padding was superb, i could change ard the configuration i wanted, waterproofing was gd and the bag was ergonomic.
I don't regret buying the crumpler bags. infact i got a smaller blunderbus bag which i use for my normal shopping trips to town buying groceries. i hate carrying my wallet, hp, key pouch sunglasses on my pants. and during my trip to the sunshine state of Brisbane, the little bag was a joy to carry ard, water bottle, digital camera, sunglasses , gd to go !
My brother also complaied abt his lowe pro bag back home, but he bought a Domke bag instead for his cameras backhome.
I did question myself for the need for such an expensive bag, but upon closer inspection of the bags, i felt that the quality of the bag was gd, gd sitching, big zippers that zip with confidence, and the padding they use, strong firm padding..not those that shift ard.I own a BlackHawk Industries fieldpack which i used during my army days which was pretty tough being hammmered by me during my jungle training and lugging ard heavy equipment and i can say Crumpler bags are well build for its civilian customers.
Well actually it really boils down to the bag for the purpose. If your looking for a normal pack to use during school, a deuter Nike Puma will do just fine. Some of my frens own the Crumpler messager bags and they are pretty alright to me.
I recall seeing a Nike Epic bag posted by SMAPLionheart. I don't noe how expensive that bag cost in Singapore, but its retailing for AUS$300 in Nike Melbourne.
