If you're a hardcore anime fan, I recommend "The Archive of Studio Ghibli", the same company that made "spirited away" and "Totoro". a box set of 20 VCD contain 10 epic movies.
I also recommend "Rurouni Kenshin: Romantic tales of the Meiji Period" AKA Samurai X. It's a 4 part movie about the life of Kenshin (the main character) as an assasin before the main series. Great animations and story. Try the get the uncensored version for this one.

Vision of Escaflowne iz de best, extremely atmospheric! grand soundtrack, great artwork, nice story, cool characters!
If u dun mind dated artwork, then Macross (TV series) must be de ultimate! (very nice theme songs!) n have de best lookin' mech out there. -
typical ones with strong themes like angel sanctuary and evangelion are not bad, but something like akira will do anyday.
