ok IF A Person lives Overseas, a PR there. He is obliged to come back to Singapore to Serve NS. If he doesnt want to come back for his NS, he has to pay a certain amount of Money right? Any idea how much?

the amount of money meant as payment for your complete national service term is meant to keep you bound is singapore. the government hopes that by burning you badly financially, you'd choose to serve instead of pay. however, the alternative, in this case especially, since he has PR in another country, if he can get citizenhip of that country, he can then elect to give up singapore citizenship and not pay anything whilst at the same time not serving NS. this is beacuse singapore does not allow dual citizenship, and NS laws only apply to singaporean citizens and on paper, PRs.

If he is eligible for citizenship in wherever he is in now. I suggest he go and apply for it, get it and revoke his singapore citizenship all before his enlistment date arrives.

I think it paying for not serving NS, aka a fine.
Or a jail term or both. -
Ask u la who wanna serve ns, who wanna waste 2 yrs or more in army tat ur efforts r not appreciated, who wanna serve the regulars tat draw high pay do nothing n serve overly pampered officer whereby even a cup of water also cannot pour n need a nsf to pour for them, act like a handicap in the end, , so if got chance better dun come back n forget abt using money to escape NS i dun think its effective unless u r some nig fuc k son.

Yes it is quite hypocritical. On one hand they talk about serving the nation and being a good citzen but on the other if u can pay shitloads of money u can forego the NS. In a way i think its better to go ns n let u see wats really happening inside in stead of wat u see in the tv, all the propeganda thingy to mislead n paint a nice picture to the public.

male can also learn to be independant and responsible without going in to ns what.
rather than go ns and learn all the bad things like chao keng, pushing responsibilities and do thing all at the last mins.
save the ns for those who really want to serve the nation and protect it with their life like in the usa. -

2 yrs plus inside dun learn anything useful for me when i go outside. Rather let me go outside n work, can learn more useful things. But we whining also no use as ns willnot be abolish. They trim down to 2 yrs i already very surprise n happy for the rest of those guyz tat haven't enlist. -

The fundamentals of National Service is not set up because of turning boys to men. National Service trains us to learn the craft in order to defend our country in times of war, in times of chaos.

1) Give up Spore Citizenship
2) Dont come back to singapore Forever
But i'm sure i have heard a parent who paid quite a lot so that his son dont have to go thru NS. Yes they make it like A fine or Something. But I cant remember How much -
