Muslim eating pork/modern slaughtered animal

  I have read from wikipedia that a muslim can eat non-halal food in the rise of starvation or when there are no non-halal foods avaliable, Someone please verify?

  Yes, the rules are flexible in the case of extrordinary circumstances.
  
  If I find myself lost in the desert for days with only ham sandwiches to eat, then I can by all means eat them.
  
  If anything, if I don't eat them and die of starvation as a result, that might even be tantamount to suicide.

  Talk about Halal Food, I wonder how Muslims travel around? I mean I've been to Hong Kong and as far as I can see I didn't see any Halal Signs around.

  anyway i feel cheated by having to pay for the halailying of the food i'm sure there are extra costs and i am funding it partial and thus paying more for nothing when i eat those food

  Yes the wiki information is right.
  
  In the tsunami disaster not too long ago, religious authorities in Muslim societies affected by the disaster issued some decrees (fatwa or whatever it is called) clarifying that in extreme situations non-halal food can be eaten and it's not considered a sin.
