How true.. Whenever I went to the states, I was shock to see so many old folks strolling in the park. Don't they need to work? Or rather, are they consider useless and not wanted by their society?Originally posted by redstone:How many examples of a third world city, in 40 years time become a world class city, even exceeding some European or American cities?
Oh of course, yes i'm eternally grateful to singapore becoz i still need to slog my guts when i should be retiring and literally sit around and doing nothing.Originally posted by caramon.:How true.. In singapore, elderly have many job opportunities :
1. As a cleaner in kopitiam or food court.
2. Self employment as a taxi driver.
3. As a dish washer.
We should be thankful that in Singapore even old folks can find jobs.
In America, old folks are jobless and sitting around doing nothing. It is obvious the American government is unable to solve the structural unemployment problem and are unable to redesign jobs for older workers. These old folks in America must be suffering without an income and spending so much time in the park when they should be working.
I think the old folks in those western countries are cover by those welfare funds or something..Every month the government will give them a small sum of money to cover their expenses..Originally posted by caramon.:How true.. how much PAP pay youOriginally posted by caramon.:Its amazing how quickly the PAP realised it can make improvements. After introducing the CPF investment scheme in 1992, the PAP has discovered that unit trust has been charging investors too high a management fee crippling their returns.
It came out a brilliant solution from the PAP for retirement with annuities. When you die, you don't have to worry about your children fighting over your CPF remainder because an annuity ends when you die. What a beautiful idea, you come to this earth with no money and leave no money when you die.
The Singapore government also sets a fine example in serving Foreign Talents. Around the world they have "Contact Singapore" offices to help these foreign talents find jobs in Singapore and they also help them to settle in well. In 1996, the Singapore govt also realise some of these FTs would be taken aback by the high housing prices in Singapore. Therefore, they provided enormous help to these foreign nationals on accomodations.
I think Singaporeans should be proud when they serve their National Service. They are protecting not just their fellow Singaporeans but the large number of FTs and PRs that reside here.
I'm beginning to appreciate the beauty of the PAP's thinking. Its absolutely brilliant! Singaporeans should consider themselves lucky to have such great leaders to guide them.
hey there, take it easy and have a second read of the post you are criticizing. This time pay more attention to the tone and intention of the writer.Originally posted by Finnz:Oh of course, yes i'm eternally grateful to singapore becoz i still need to slog my guts when i should be retiring and literally sit around and doing nothing.
Please take a step back and look at what the fuck you're writing, you dun make sense, you oxymoron, you wrtite as if PAP pays you a million bucks for every sentence.
What a retard, i pity you, you mindless walking zombie cause you're obviously brain-dead, which comes to the question if you ever had a brain in the first place which i doubt so.
Let be fair. my understanding of annuities is like thisOriginally posted by caramon.:.

Just wondering, how high is your IQ? To write such a sacarstic piece and fooling lots of people to think that you are supporting PAP.Originally posted by caramon.:Its amazing how quickly the PAP realised it can make improvements. Yes I think so too, but you gotta admit, caramon did it so "craftily" (in the literal sense of the word, as well as the chinese translation - jiao3 hua2!!!Originally posted by LiveMatrix:I found caramon's observations shallow and incomplete.
