how do employers find out criminal record?

hope someone can help me...
i have gone to prison before. i know i must declare to employer that i have criminal record. but can someone tell me how my employer can find out that i was in prison? how do companies conduct background check? is there some govt office that all employer can call?
but will all employer check? is it safe if i don't declare? -
better to be honest.....

depending on what crime you commited, there are some companies that will still employ ex-convict.
i think there is an government organisation which helps ex-convicts find jobs one... you can try that if you cant find jobs -
They will go down to CID at the Police Cantoment Complex and check..

Another thing is that they know you go to jail because of newspapers. You became famous through there. -
i use to have that 'special IC' when i was under supervision when i first release from prison. but now i have my normal IC.

Now if your offence is minor enough, your criminal record will be 'spent' after 5 years if you stay crime-free. Which means you will then be able to say that you do not have a criminal record.
Unfortunately some companies are very smart. They dun ask you if you have a criminal record but "Have you ever been convicted in a court of law in any country?".
Anyway, better to be honest with them. -

You can just write no,i have never being convicted and they will never be able to find out since you do not have the record for them to confirm it. -

If U are asking if ITE accept ex-con as a student...I think they do...even unis and polys do...as for staff...I not sure...U have to find out from them...
