Anyone has bad experience with private doctors?

In terms of ethnics from my own experience...
Ethnics
1. Govt doctors are paid a fix salary, therefore there is less conflict of interest. Private doctors salary depends on how much money they can make out of the patient + number of patients. Therefore they may try to spend as little time as possible to diagnose your condition (higher chance of misdiagnosis) to maximise the number of patients seen per day. i.e give wrong medicine/treatment due to misdiagnosis and ask patient to come back if condition doesn't get better. Another possible trick to make more money is to give less medicine and ask the patient to come back for another visit if the condition doesn't get better.
2. I think that govt doctors are more accountable because they have to report to their superiors for those junior doctors and follow standard procedure. Private doctors that run their own clinic mostly do what they want?
Note: These are just my own observations from my personal experience that i wish to share with everyone. They may or may not be true.

I went to Hougang Polyclinic, where I have been going for the past 10 years.
Last year went to see one female doc there. Nv see her before.
She look at my address...ask me "Sengkang got polyclinic why you dunno ah?? Why you dun go there but come here??!!

Hmm so far my family doctor (private clinic) is good loh for the past 10 years+ don't have problem with him in fact he nice and good. Emergency case he will come asap even though there alot of ppl at his clinic, but must pay lah.

the "best" doctor gotta be frm PTMC.......i heard the MO came out of his room and tear away the appointment slip infront of waiting patients to show tt he is pissed for waiting for the patient to come in.

I find govt doctors more impatient and doesnt discuss ur illness with U unlike private doctors....I guess its because private doctors are better paid so they need to spend more time with each patient so that the patient is comfortable with him/her and will return for consultation...
Of course...like what U said...not all doctors are the same...I have met private doctors that send U on a wild goose chase without really knowing what is wrong with U...inexperienced doctors that make a big fuss out of nothing...and those that charge really high fees. -
Last time my GF go private doctor.. i think around sec2.. then e doctor ask her pull her dress up till her chest.. then use e thing listen to her heartbeat.. can see her undergarments
.. that time she still young.. so dunno anything yet.. i hear le very very angry sia

That's why pregnant women when going for their routine ultrsound are adviced to wear two-piece clothes.
If they wear a dress.... same thing. pull up also.
At least this is not as bad, some doctors even ask you to pull up the bra. -
I had an accident and went to one of my ex-company doctor.
He didn't bother to wash the abrasion wounds on my feet. Neither did he wash my knee abrasion wounds properly. When i asked him if i needed a jab, he replied,"No u can go." I asked again,"Nothing else?" He did not look at me and said,"U can go." It was at night and when I went hm, I sort of felt sick and vomitted. May be due to shock but anyway I went to see another doc the next day in case. That doc looked at my knee wound and told me it is very dirty and show signs of infections. He then cleaned it up very nicely. My mom asked him if I needed a jab, he replied,"Usually we'd give jabs for rd accidents as rds are very dirty."
The first doctor gave me an impression that he was in a huge hurry to go home. -

polyclinic doctors are paid very little but they have a bond to serve...actually some of the private docs are the same persons as the polyclinc ones...they rush to finish their work at polyclinic, take dinner and then do night locum at a private clinic to earn more money...They have a huge loan to pay off.. -
govt doc dun listen to u want got problem also say nevermind. then just write on some paper on wat they think... once i so angry that i tore his repoty wrting on me and nearly lub him. chao ang mo also

For me, it's so far so good la, so i guess I must be very lucky. But then the price he charge very high leh... higher and higher each time...

i had stomach viral infection and i was given medicine to treat some other type of illness
I had to make another trip to my private doctor -
It's the same everywhere lah, some people are more committed to doing their job well, others just don't give a damn.
Anyway i don't think what the threadstarter said is true... that private doctors try to spend as little time as possible on each patient and are less accountable.
In fact if anything, private practitioners should be the ones spending more time and effort on each and every patient cos the patients are their ricebowl. Misdiagnosis = bad reputation, which is everything for a doctor in private practice. It is the doctors in the hospitals who can hide behind each other and get their superiors to cover up for them when they screw up.
The only bad experience i have with doctors are with the army MOs.. somehow their medicines never seem to work and they don't do a proper physical exam or take a proper history. But again, can't really blame them lah, can see they are very stressed also by the high workload. -

I feel some local doctors are quite rude sometimes and have no sense of serving the patient or commitness

I dun like to go to Polyclinic..
some doctors very rude wan.. they dun even know how to respect you. They think they are very great bcoz there are many other patients waiting outside, and u so cheapskate go polyclinic pay a minimum fee to seek consultation.
I even came across doctor that wun lock the door for me when she examine me.. u know, the assistants always come in and out to despatch the patient's folio etc.. they duno wat is respect the patient's privacy. Some even wun examine you, just ask you wat u are suffering from and gathered what you have said, they give u a prescription.
A few times I din even take the medicine they gave me, scared they anyhow prescribe, make my condition worse. I go polyclinic only when I need them to refer me to the hospital. -
