yes they earn alot,particularly so when they do not need to pay 20% of their earnings into a CPF account.
think about it,if the average price of a plate of food from a hawker is about $3 and this hawker sell an modest average of 200 plate per day,that is already $600 per day or $18000 per month.A few thousands for rental and a few thousands for the cost of the raw food and it is likely they still have maybe 4-5k in profit left

i have seen alot of chicken rice seller driving mercedes. nothing amazing.
what im curious about is... those push cart in bugis junction. heard that their monthly rent can goes up to few thousands leh... then the things they sell normally those small small cheap cheap things... and i dont see much people buying...
how do they earn profit?
that remains as 1 of the biggest mystery to me...

They earn ridiculously much.
I think we are in fact overcharged for our food. To think that we slog and sweat just to have a meal or a nice cup of coffee, but we are actually paying for their condo and BMWs and Mercs.
Where else in the world do you see hawkers driving expensive cars to work?
And they still want to raise the price of kopi!!!

how come?i know of one couple sell chai peng in kopi tiam..... see their 3 kids thru uni... got maid... drive new car... got 3 workers...
anyway those Bugis push carts rent is about $200 per day lor. bloody over-priced.

200 bucks per day?
how are they going to cover the rental cost? dont see much people buying from them. mostly just stand there see see nia.
