u get to numb yr mouth for 2 hrs straight
the dentist get to use the plier to twist n turn yr tooth around
u get the sharp pain after the anestestic worn off

I know a forumnite who went to get hers removed. Firstly, the needle to the gum was nothing, its the painkilling drip that is delivered intravaneously that hurts. The needle went up her palm and it was larger than a stereo jack.
Next came the after effects, it was so pain her jaw went numb till it became green literally. had to go back after a few days to the dentist to pump out the accumulated pus after surgery. -
my brother stayed awake for one whole night, went for the procedure, came home and slept zzz. woke up in pain haha.

It's not really drilling, its more like jackhammer drilling, because your wisdom tooth ain't fully emerged, only way out is to break them down to smaller chunks, like when they repair roads, you know?Originally posted by FireIce:drill?

I'm praying hard that I'll never need to remove my wisdom tooth. Sound scary to me despite being used to needles and stuffs

it depends on how the tooth is impacted. for me, it was at an angle. so wat the dentist did was to firstly take an x ray, after which he gave me 3 shots of the local anaesthesia. numb only one side of the lower jaw only. bearable pain lah.. although the needle is freaking long.
after that, the dentist proceeded to drill a small hole and also used the scalpel to cut the gum. after which he proceeded to used a chisel-like instrument to break the tooth into pieces. then finally he used the plier to pull the tooth's roots out (which is in the gums).
one the tooth is out, he would clean up the area, and finally stitch the hole up.
post op is ok lah... makan soft food loh... first 1-2 days bleed like hell.. need to use a mouth wash and need to change cotton swab once every hour.
tip: after the op, while the local anaesthesia is still effective, bite down on the swab hard! cos one the effect wears off, u'll find it painful to bite the cotton swab.
need to remember to brush your teeth! slowly brush. don't spit!!!! cos if the clot breaks, u are gonna bleed like hell again... the face is gonna swell abit. like someone had given u one good punch on the cheeks. not easy to talk. becareful how u sleep, cos if u lie down on your sides, in the morning, u'll find that your pillow is soaked with blood! drink more water to replace the fluids lost.
before the op, have a good meal, cos u are not gonna eat much after that. also get some cotton swabs those with the cotton pad inside cos i seriously doubt the ones given by the dentist is enough.

i went to the place called "my dentist @gombak" at gombak MRT station. not bad. the dentist neame is Dr. raymond. really friendly. -
i did some research before i went for the op.
if there is no problem of pain or discomfort, dont bother to remove it. some pple had it there for their whole life.
mine was a tooth lying down horizontally (!! weird looking from the x ray) and it was causing lotza pain. so had to remove.
the unbearable part was the removing. more than an hour of cutting, jack hammering, mouth opening. after the ops, any other kind of pain was nothing.
the only comfort was the pretty nurse and doctor. i told her to "be gentle, this is my first time..." -
my wisdom teeth wer impacted (growing sideways)
the dentist had to jab me w numerous needles. silce my gums open w a scapal. drill holes into the tooth (teeth) stick a tool tt luked like n expesive screwdriver into the drill craks, push ed hard n twisted the dam thing to try n break the tooth out for extraction.
tt was wen i almst fainted from the pain n blood loss...
