WOW!Originally posted by SilverPal:Hi, you can't hide your IP address in the true sense of "hiding".
Websites and servers need your IP address to send you the page you requested or to simply communicate with you. Imagine if you sent a request by clicking a link on sgforums and the server does not have your IP to send the page to in response to your request, how are you going to get the page to view sgforums?
Alternatively, there are ways to mask your IP. You can use anonymous proxies on the internet and route all your web traffic through them. This allows the servers or other parties to only see the IP address of the proxy instead of yours. The proxy will in turn send you the page without disclosing your IP to anyone else.
Many hackers use a technique of "proxy tunnelling" to hide their tracks. Imagine using many proxies instead of only one.
Another forumer mentioned the use of a router. Routers use the IP address supplied by your provider. Any requests send to the internet bears your IP address still. When the server replies, it does not know which computer behind the router sent the request. It merely sends the request to the IP address and is received by the router. The router in turns sends the page to the correct computer.
Each computer behind the router has a NAT IP address. It is an IP address used to uniquely identify each computer on the network for the router to route traffic. The router will not disclose this NAT address to the internet, hence protecting your identity, ie the server doesn't know which computer behind the router sent the request but your ISP knows you did.
Hope I helped.
It's not rubbish, you read first the document....it includes the softwares, the good ones, not kiddy stuff.Originally posted by alexkusu:tiu... rubbish
basically I agree with it...Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:You can't hide IP address. However, you can prevent simple tracing by others. Sign in using a proxy server, use encryption. But beware. Those that offer free proxy aren't really as good as you think. There's no guarantee what goes behind the scene. For all you know, it's maintained by government. Those that ask you pay are probably better, they don't want to lose customers and close down their business.
Router is making use of MAC address. You ip can be view just like any others. No, router dun work. Heard of some advance programming can do it, includes hacking, but why the fuss? Whats there for you to hideOriginally posted by StarPuppy:i think a router
but i am not sure how a router works tho![]()

but there is such a thing called IP spoofing...can be used for DOS attacks
hmm spoofing might be a good idea. any idea how to do it?? hard or not??Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:X2
Though spoofing is really an overkill, unless you are doing something illegal.
I don't know how. Maybe a Google search will turn up somethings.Originally posted by hisoka:hmm spoofing might be a good idea. any idea how to do it?? hard or not??
doesn't really work now .....Originally posted by Xcert:basically I agree with it...

why do i need to spoof mac when i have ping and arp.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Found a really good forum which teaches you the spoofing stuff, but am not going to tell it.
Also found a program to spoof MAC addresses. Not going to tell it anyway.
As a guide, put quotes in your search to make it more specific. It will give you results that you want.
For example: instead of channel 8, put "channel 8" instead.
Ping the wrong thing and users will know ma. Firewalls are not for bai sui de. And ping too much will get admin suspicious. Who the hell keep pinging the same thing for what?Originally posted by kaobeikaobu:why do i need to spoof mac when i have ping and arp.![]()
mind u can explain what are the "air-gaps" ..whoppOriginally posted by Fatum:doesn't really work now .....
reputable service providers and net admin will practise ingress and egress filtering for spoofed packets .....though you can exploit "air-gaps" and all that of course .....
but of course, there's DDoS, so spoofed or not it doesn't really matter eh ...![]()
one can easily get targeted host mac add without pinging it directly, u just need to know how Ethernet works. basically, most admins are lazy ppl....Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Ping the wrong thing and users will know ma. ARP never try before.
