Advices needed for Laptops.

I'm looking in getting a new laptop for myself. Currently using a Acer Desktop Replacement Aspire 1700 with a 2.6ghz processor, 17" TFT LCD, 704mb RAM, 80GB HDD and DVD/CD-RW Drive.
I've a budget of $2,000.
Currently in mind is Acer Travelmate 4200. Looking for Acer only as other's cannot really fit my budget. Here's the laptop's spec.

I basically play online games, do casual video editing, photo-shop and MS Office. I want a laptop over my desktop replacement so that I can bring along should I really decide to partner with my friend to do personalised printing and thus able to meet customer and design on the go. -

I'm not that interested in AMD chipsets and the price is definately going to be very high. they look quite nice...only that the covers for the various port is plastic

If the laptop you buy now is running on 32bit processor, or simply isn't isn't VISTA-ready, you will end up having to buy another one, or stick to using XP.
But if you buy a 64bit laptop that's VISTA-ready, your $2000 budget will not be sufficient. -
Get a MacBook Pro.

anyway, dual core still not stable yet
got quite alotta complaints..
made the system laggy instead of faster due to the inability to load-balance efficiently -
shade343 looking for companion to go acer service centre with him.
