If I don't remember wrongly, he did refer to citizens earlier and mentioned citizens will get the bonus package before he went into the ns payout.

It is thru Singapore's open immigration, economic policies that many companies want to invest in Singapore.
Take a look at Maxtor, how many jobs are lost when they divested?
How many world-reknown names who set up shop in Singapore are local? And how many local companies are world-renowned? I can only think of Creative, Flextronics, Singapore Airlines.
25% of residents in Singaproe are foreigners. If they decided to make their money and go home, how much will the local market shrink you think? -

if government decides to give u PP while u hold a dual citizenship, it's our turn to complain. it'll be unfair to us. just look at the mervyn tan case and u'll noe. we'll also wan recognition in exchange of committing ourselves to singapore only, and we'll ask for even more than you'll be eligible, simply because we're 100% and you're not.

NS is universal (except to Melvin Tan), when i served my NS, i get no special treatmetn because of my status of a PR. Neither do I expect a special status. I just served NS like everyone did.
What I am pissed with is this.
1) Govt wants a PR to serve NS because PR stay in Singapore long enough to enjoy economic benefits.
2) Govt impose equal restrictions to PR.
3) NS for PR is no different from Citizen NS.
4) Going thru everythign, when its time to reward NSFs, only citizens get it.
So you see, the matter is not about me wanting or wrong in refusing citizenship.
To reward NSFs, they should reward the set "NSF" not the Sub-set citizen NSF. it is a 40th Annive Bonus afterall.
It's like if you work in a Company, then December time your boss can say, sorry, only Sales staff get Bonus since they bring in the income. equal restrictions are imposed on PR like as though u're a SC, simply because those who serve NS will eventually be SC. the saying will then be, "serve NS, be a SC, and get ur PP." if NS for PR is easier, this will make SC's very unhappy and will undermine the whole NS system.
like some of us said, if u're not going to get SC, then why u serve NS? it'll be unfair to those who decided to stay on and call singapore their home. this is reality. there must be something that sets SC and PR aside.
in any case, singapore's success does not depend on PRs or FT alone. we have also invested in infrastructure and support, given u the stable base and environment for u to succeed. u can't say u're indispensable cos u're a PR; are SC's, or more importantly, PR's who have turned SC's, not indispensable as well?
and in the company analogy, the bonus issue u have stated may be true, but if a department contributes more to the company, i dun think it's unfair to give them more bonus cos of their performance. -
I am more concerned about security issues here. i want to fire my rifle in the foxhole alongside my fellow platoon mates who hold the true pink-IC. all SC eligible should serve. A PR should not serve NS in SG prior to getting his SCship.

You probably missed the part about Singapore Citizens or probably the earlier version where they took out parts from his speech and were loosely translated. (Yes, especially so if you read ST...)
It was only later that I know the exact qualifications for those bonuses and the exact calculation how much I get.
