Singapore Idol is supposed to be a singing contest.
a competition to spot talented singers and help them develop their talent.
but look at the advertisements on Ch 5 these days.
what they are doing is to poke fun of people who cant sing.
all of the advertisements.
I havent seen a bit of the contestants who got in and their ability to sing.
of course,its a good idea to get people to watch the show.
but they are seriously overdoing it.

i think the real problem comes when singaporeans breathe too much into the advertisements.
Let's face it, who here watches Singapore idol, Let alone American idol for the talent?? I certainly am watching American Idol to hear the comments that Simon has to say and i particularly enjoy watching the auditions as you get to see those who have been "decieved" into thinking that they can sing but end up getting the "straight-up" comments from the judges?
And also, the commercials change later in the programme's run up to the finale. Look at season 1, the adverts slowly changed from "Make-fun-of-those-who-can't-sing" to "who-will-be-our-next-singapore-idol-?"
Plus, bottomline: adverts are to entice you to watch the programme. And if it did, then it served it's purpose!!

Who ever said that he was our favourite? And even if he was, he wouldn't have disappeared off the face of earth...

Who ever said that he was our favourite? And even if he was, he wouldn't have disappeared off the face of earth... Taufik hasnt exactly disappeared,you know, he has performed in several prestigious Malaysian music award shows recently and all.
You shld do your research before commentg that he has 'disappeared' frm the music scene.

The only fun part of the show will be the first or second episode,there is where all the funny contestants come out like our watermelon man last year.
The middle part of the show is mostly filled with average singers that do not make any real impression while if standard is the same as last year,only that few who can actually sing in the final portion of the show.
