  what is the meaning of ugly? ugliness/beauty originally apply to humans. if u apply it to other animals, we humans will generally judge them based on how much they look like us, because the more they look human-like, the "cuter" they usually seem. for example, a monkey or a dog look cute because they have the facial/body features of humans.
  
  however, it's hard to define whether an octopus, a corcodile, a snake, a worm or a germ is uglier. bcos they are all completely different from us.

  there is one animal that is extremely ugly. takes hours to climb a tree. it shares the same habitat as the leopard.

  The qualities you describe as above do exist in humankind, but apparently most of us cannot yet apply it to things non-human, including the own planet we walk on. We are blessed with intelligence, but not yet wisdom... and that may well turn out to be our curse.
