As a man, I very strongly support this CPT.
Even as a Regular specialist's point of view (I ORD last year), I will also find nothing wrong with this action. If a PTE were to propose to his gf, it'd be the same also. Nothing wrong with that.
SAF is built to protect our country, our families. Proposing for marriage is something decent to do. [b]Let's not use the excuse of military regimentation to put down the courage this man has shown. We know that the rules for respect of uniforms is targetted at indecency rather than true respectable love. It's a thin line but this CPT hasn't crossed it.
What's more proposing in a No:4 on 9 Aug in the last days of the national stadium = memorable. How often do we see that? If anybody is unhappy, then don't whine here. Write to MINDEF and make practical actions to punish this CPT!
C'mon guys... let's wish this couple the best and hopefully with a newly formed family, in time to come he will become a father, this CPT can become an even better leader.[/b]

IMO i don't think the captain will get charged lah. We're all humans, not robots. Nth wrong with kissing ur gf/future wife if the situation allows it.
As for double standards...hmmm. I remember during my bmt, when confinement was still 3 weeks, my then-gf came. We had a super-long frenchie behind the yellow box, and kana spotted by my PC...didn't know until after my parents left and he told me he saw, but he understood.
And anyone who was ever a naval trainee at the old INTO at sembawang camp will know, the old naval museum there was a choice spot for hanky-panky during Visiting Day.

im a few month old soldier nia..but heres my view
firstly..i am shocked he proposes after national day in the stadium. True it is a celebration of the nation but surely its a bit disrespectful?
2ndly..wearing no.4 to propose and kiss?wtf..those army personnel always warn us not to do things like sleep on train,hold hands with gf etc and this guy actually does it in front of so many ppl?will he be charged?i doubt so.Newspaper already report so i doubt SAF will do anything.If not malu
Bottom line is DOUBLE STANDARDS in SAF! -

there's a time and place 2 propose. When u wear the No4 uniform, u do not mix business with pleasure. Proposing in the national stadium in front of 55,000-60000 people is romantic, that's for sure, but what the hell is he proposing when the NDP was in progress, while he's on duty? What kind of example is that to those below him?
