Saw a dog kill a cat

Today went with my school to pulau ubin. Saw something which I really did not expect. A dog attacked a family of cat and got the kitten. It bite on the kitten with its mouth and started tearing. My class witnessed the kitten struggle desperately in the mouth of the dog and finally the dog drop it.
It looked like the kitten's spine is crashed. It lie on the floor, trembles for a few second and then dead. We went up to it and saw its pupils nearly poping out, and it has got a very horrified look, so errie that none of us took a picture. Then as we walk away, the dog returned again and again and bite on it, as if making sure all its bones are broken and its intestines messed up.
If you were there, will you stop the dog, or will you let nature has its way? -

Umm... Over there it is not a zoo. Its in the wild, or at least sort of. No one feeds them. They need to fight to survive. Thats how nature has it. Simply too stunned. At first the dog was only barking at the cats. Then suddenly he jumped onto one and bite. We did try to get the dog to go away from the dead cat after that, but it just keep going back -
you can stop that paticular dog but can you do the same for others?

I say leave the dog alone, after all it's wheel of nature that is turning

this is the nature way of survival. You stop the dog from having its meal and you will be disturbing the food chain.

Sorry if i fail to mention it. The dog did not seemed to want to eat the cat. Just that the minute it saw the cat family, it is as if the dog attacked out of natural instinct. Not that it is a mad dog, as it is quite friendly towards me and my classmates. i will go back tell my mum and ask her to complain to the mp. say i got traumatized and its all the school fault for bringing us there.

You said it. It's instinct.
Cats catch rats and lizards and birds not because they want to eat them either. It's animal instinct - they feel the need to hunt, especially when they're so domesticated nowadays.
I pity the kitten though.
Actually if I saw it I'd stop the dog and feed it something else.
And "instinct" is not an excuse for human abusers of animals. Human beings who abuse animals are just plain sick in the mind. They should all be sent to IMH. -

Even if the dog kills the cat not for food but for some vendetta, it's still a work of nature, in nature, the strong outlast the weak, this world is not for weakling. Details I missed out: The mother and the siblings of the killed kitten just stood far away and witnessed the entire thing. Didn't dare to go up and fight.
