let me guesss.......Originally posted by thickskin23:3 months ago, 14 May 2006, i accepted a night shift job from a job agency in international plaza. The job agent is quite arrogant, he just implying things like i owe him a living. Anyway beggar cannot be chosers, i been jobless for close to 4 months before that.
Before i sign the contract, the job agent told me it was a 2 months temp to perm night shift job. Then i look at the job it was valid for 6 months instead of 2 months. I was surprised and ask him why is the contract valid for 6 months, the job agent behaved impatiently and says their is a reputable job agencies, they say after 2 months if my enginner if satisfied the company will sign me up. I admit i was so navie and damn stupid, i sign the contract.
2 months later at 16 July, i ask the HR department why i am still not converted to perm staff. They says my contract is 6 months, i ask my direct engineer and he was surprised. He says you didn't know your contract was 6 months.
I was shocked and furious, i confront that agent and he just says" if you think it is too long, give us 1 month notice and quit." This is my encounter with a job agency and it is really a very big agency. I just want to share my experience, i admit i was downright naive and stupid and i urge you people out there to try to find a job by yourself first.

Recruit Express
These type of agencies all bluff ppl 1. It is not u who owe them a living, its them who owes u a living cos if u nvr go apply job where they get their commission from?
and most of the time, i would say 99.99% after ur contract ends as a temp, the company will tell u they no longer need anymore staff and then employs another temp to take ur place.
one look at the paper no need to fight liao...Originally posted by alexkusu:bring to MOM
As a matter of fact, i was told that those in recruitment companies earn money by the number of staff they employed for the company on a commision base.Originally posted by pipipopo:HR in companies is not a profit department...i see it as a supporting/ administrative department within a firm...so u can just imagine how ppl make money by running a recruitment agency.
Don't tell me any tom dick and harry dun know how to read English and match make an applicant for a job posting. Some companies HR just do not want the hassle or do not have the time or manpower to sort resumes and do the initial selection so they employ the services of recruitment agencies.
So recruitment agencies will also hope u resign in your job posting. They do not get payments from their clients they get payments from you if you resign.
To me its unethical to earn money out of HR and believe me you wouldn't want to know the dirty tricks recruiters from such agencies can play.
