hi all,
just curious. if SG gets involved in a war one day(like China invading S.E. Asia 10 years down the road or North Korea charging into SG).......then do those NSF and NSMen need to go and fight? Compulsory, right?
u all ever thought of this before anot? i keep having this feeling that war will somehow break out in the not-so-distant future and this time, it'll be an Asian power trying to take over the world once it has reached superpower status. something is rising.
i don't care if china invades america and start the chinese occupation there or something, but if war really breaks out in SG....what fate awaits NSFs and NSMen? should we take advantage of the chaos and flee from the National Service Act?

yeah lah, but then, i think that given the nature of SG's government, they'll surely force one. in fact, i think it's already a law that if SG is invaded, NSMen and NSFs will have to go to frontline. because regulars not enough : in my NS days, the regulars in every camp i've seen make up only 10% or so. the rest all NSFs.
somemore, almost all regulars are all sergeants and officers.....u think Mindef will despatch them to fight first meh? i think they'll use the "ground people", which is NSMen and NSFs.
after all, i don't think SG government will be stupid enough to spend billions of $ to train us for nothing if they don't intend to send us to war and death.

Once, my moral education teacher said that plans have been made to 'defend then attack KL'. I asked him during lesson why SG Army don't have heavy tanks like the M1A1 Abrams the US are using. His reply was that SG Army would have one day fight Malaysian troops, this is INEVITABLE. Quote: 'Once Malaysian troops have intention on pushing south and crushing us, our Army will defend and try to push the Malaysians back north... and through Pahang, try to capture KL as soon as possible.'
Ask Col Benedict Tan (I met him before) and he WILL refuse to say...

NTM4 reservists will be the main party.

every mother's son and daughter is made equal. if they start running, it speaks volumes of the regime the opfor is fighting against. therefore, why even resist when the leaders that feed off your taxes dun even give a sh*t about the country?
every war has been started by politicians, if they run, wats the point of the military fighting for them? would they not be betraying the military and the nation just by the act of running away?
i love the nation, but i want each and every individual soldier to fully realise wat can actually happen, wat and who they are fighting for, or where they have to run to... and when the time comes, make a timely and wise decision.

if i'm captured, i'll defect to the enemy's side(regardless if it's chinese, japanese, taiwanese, malaysian, indonesian, taleban or whatever) with all my sweetest words and loyalty. at the end of the day, a country is just a place of living. i myself is not an idealist, so don't give me the patriotism crap. it's always survival first.
and if we SGreans want to run when war comes, we must be fast enough to book air-tickets, because the over 500,000++ expatriates here will jam the airplanes!!!!! -
