A pretty girl ruin herself...

  Last weekend was buying zippo lighter, then a girl came and serve me..
  
  She was so beautiful. Yet she destroyed her overall image by have those 50 cents coin size big of ear hole at her left ear.
  
  Was thinking why did she want to do it? If not she will be very very pretty...

  Now the real question here is, when will Singaporeans grow up and realise that their own conservatism is not a benchmark for any godamned thing? Or are singaporeans simply unable to understand what diversity actually means?

  This is TS' (and most Singaporeans') aesthetic judgement, if it is ugly to the viewer, then it shall be perceived as ugly. If the girl thinks it is pretty, fine, but I don't see us changing our minds anytime soon.

  honestly, until u actually enter the world of bodymods, u'll simply have nothing but yr observations as an outsider to rely on, and often, if not almost always, the sort of conclusion u can come up with on a subject u are not familiar with is vastly far off the mark.

  Beauty will always be subjective, and social perceptions exist in the context of our everyday world. Of course you would not expect everyone to delve into the world of bodymods, like I wouldn't expect everyone to study the fine art or architecture or installation displays etc. You cannot ask more of the general public than observation: she put her piercing out there for us to see... we (TS) saw and didnt like it.   As you can see.... threads have been started on much much less. The girl has the right to do her piercing, TS has the right to voice his opinion as he sees fit.

  Did say he has a right to voice his opinion. Agree with u about threads being started on much less. Which is why I've given up on this forums and stopped coming her regularly. Same goes for Singapore. I also don't think they key to this discussion is aesthetics, but more on the "frog in the well" mentality of majority of Singaporeans. Even you who's much more able to present a well constructed argument in an articulate way has the knee jerk reaction of saying that the piercing in this case was done as a result of "angst lack of attention"
