Can anyone tell me why so many Singaporeans still cannot understand simple maths and logic when our society is so well-educated? Why do everyone believe that by going to that "lucky" betting station at that Yishun 7-11, they will stand a higher chance of winning? This pure NONSENSE!
Simple logic will tell you that a betting station with 10,000 bets will definitely have more winners than another betting station with only 100 bets.
And for those who understand probability and statistics, I'm sure you know that as far as probability goes, it doesnt matter where you bet because your chances will still be the same...
And for those who still insist that that particular betting station really gives a higher chance of winning, can you give a good reason why? Is it because the computers there have the capability of predicting the winning numbers? You know the answer... -

And my point is also exactly to refute the term "wang di"... The supposed trend of the winning tickets source is the actual culprit behind all of this....
1) Long time ago... Yishun betting outlet got 2 big winners... This is not due to luck or anything, but pure probability and coincidence...
2) Some people start to think that it's a lucky station. They flock there to place their bets. Number of bets at that station increased.
3) Due to the high number of bets, the big winner once again came from that betting station.
4) This made others more convinced that it is a lucky station... Now even more people flock there to place there bets....
5) And this goes on and on...
It's a chain effect... Get it? The reason for big winners emergin from that betting station is not because of "luck" but because of the number of bets...
So for tonight, if there are 2 first prize winners from woodlands branch, that branch will become the next "lucky" station due to the chain effect.... -
people like to queue so be it la.. they never offend you or anything..

why not just tell everyone the probability of 1 in 8million plus of striking the jackpot is close to impossible and ask them to stop being stupid and not to waste their money betting?
