summerize, "Harmful substance in our TAP Water"Originally posted by TXian:Please summerize the linked webby to under 10 words. SO MANY words and ask us to read?????
It's long term effects, say 30 or 40 years of it. Also there is also fluoride and chlorine when u shower as well, so the amount is much more than you can drink in one day when you shower.Originally posted by stupidissmart:I am looking at the medical paper in the link again and I feel like laughing and share my thoughts here
The report say tat it give water with 75 ppm flouride to the rats. Now tat is 75 times more than the recommended dosage of 1 ppm to drinking water. If we use tis information on another molecule, lets say H2O or water, i can expect very bad result as well.
A human recommended water intake is 7 litres. 75 times 7 litres is 525 litres per day which is 21 litres an hour. If u force a person to such high level of water, u probably record the following observations
"bloated body, excessive urine and sweating, high blood pressure, extreme abdominal pain, excessive thinning of blood, collapse of digestive system, overworked kidney and liver, puncturing of stomach wall, reduced lifespan after prolonged period"
So should we conclude water at any amount is harmful to body or water at excessive amount is harmful to body ?

At this point, the long effects cannot be concluded because there is no conclusive evidence on the LONG TERM Effect.

No, means when you shower, the water enter your body as well because your pores are open so it's more than what you drink even. DO some research on google if you want to know more.Originally posted by laurence82:you drink when you shower?

For example, in hotel inter-continental (wedding banquet kitchen) - when I was working there as a waiter, standard procedure for cold water is to go to the sink and open the tap, put ice, serve.
It's long term effects, say 30 or 40 years of it. Also there is also fluoride and chlorine when u shower as well, so the amount is much more than you can drink in one day when you shower. Now who claim tat u get health problems due to showering in flouride
At this point, the long effects cannot be concluded because there is no conclusive evidence on the LONG TERM Effect.Tat is another word of no evidence. And Americans have been using flouride for water for many decades and I don't see them becoming X men or stupid...

whoa you mean if I boil water, fluoride will pop out of nowhere?Originally posted by limpshaggy:Actually, i think even if u boil the water from tap water, the fluoride will still be there, because it not bacteria can be removed by boiling. so that what most people have been drinking. Not tap water, but even boiled tape water. I may be wrong though.
updated: boiled water will not remove fluoride from it but concentrate it.
# Boiling Water
This will concentrate the fluoride rather than reduce it.
# Freezing Water
Freezing water does not affect the concentration of fluoride.
They can always try pull a redox chemical reaction to remove the fluoride.Originally posted by oxford mushroom:Another rumour monger...
The key is the amount. The amount of chlorine and fluorides in our tap water has never been shown to be detrimental to health but has been proven to keep microbes low and prevent tooth decay respectively.
As for filtration, what sort of mechanical filter can remove fluorides? Show your data![]()
no wonder got chlorine taste. cheh! next time i should order evianOriginally posted by Vigelic:That's because it usually is.
