Long hair is NOT untidy (For NSmen only)

Bloody pissed off with SAF. Why every ICT must cut hair until like goon du? Now hairstyle looks like a kid. Why can't they just give us the freedom to have a hairstyle we feel comfortable with? Very demoralising to think of my hair everyday until it grows long. How to train hard like that? We are neither secondary school kids nor regulars. We have our lives after the 1-2 weeks of stupid ICT. I feel like writing in to newspaper forums. Anyone thinks I should "feedback"?

yes you should in fact i felt active NSF/ Reg should also give the permission to keep long hair so long is neat.

it is for personal hygiene...
cos u will be sweating alot...shorter hair will help ur body to regulate the heat loss
and also for safety...tis safer to have shorter hair cos u will be required to handle some military equipment for the 1st time... and i believe u dun want any accident to occur, dun u -

It's simply stoopidity to demand tt NSmen cut their hair (with slope!!!) just to have tt uniformed look. I'm sure a safety guide wld suffice... Leave it to the NSmen to decide on the risk factor...

Agree with TS,you should write,furthermore i have seen female regulars with dye hair too,what the hell man,why male nsmen have to undye their hair because of ICT while female regulars dye their hair?????
They are regulars leh,they are working for the govt,we are providing a service to the country leh. -
You know, relating this back to secondary school, where the discipline master would just walk around and cut whoever's hair is too long. It's like seriously........they cut cause they want it to be neater...but cut already look F**KING goondoo. So you give a "good image" outside as long as your hair is short? If I see secondary school kids with dumb looking hair I just pity the school sia.

I actually prefer short hair. (Factor = Weather + Less Dandruff)
Long hair in army simply not practical when you think about it. I kena once in my first ICT when my hair was quite long. Wear helmet damn itchy! Wear beret also itchy. Jockey Cap won't fit coz of the hair.
Long hair in No.4 look like lan jiao peng.
I'm not saying we shouldn't have long hair in army but ask yourself. Practical? -

Well most guys in my ICT have short hair to begin with and only a handful with long hair.
So in any case cutting hair should not be an issue and hair will grow again.
I'm just saying if you want to keep your long hair. Keep away from the enciks and you'll do fine. Usually the enciks will aim more than the PCs... -

I guess there are a few reasons for keeping the hair short...
1) Image. So as not to look like a motley crew of guerilla army. Which professional army in the world allow their soldiers to keep long hair?
2) Hygiene. Imagine how dirty your hair will get if you are out in the field for extended periods. Heck, even one day, one night outfield will make your hair as clean as a broom!
To me personally, I have no problem with keeping short hair cos that has been my style for the longest time. It's neat and tidy. And you can easily style it to look good. Look at all the hollywood stars, none of the guys keep long hair, or not many. While I do not berate your choice of hair style, I personally find having long hair for guys a little sissy. Especially for those who are not suitable for it. But well, that's just me.
