To work for NASA?

Hello!
I recently got accepted into Aerospace Engi in NTU.
I am wondering what are the prospects of me, being a Singaporean, an Asian, a chinese, getting the chance to work in NASA or any other space agencies.
any thoughts? -

Don't worry about this, just do extremely well and you will see Singapore's Government trying to hold on to you while other countries try to pull you. Then, you worry.

Yes, I agree it sounds far fetched but well joining a space agency is my dream.
Some people will just tell me never give up your dreams this kinda stuff while others think I am too ambitious and unrealistic.
Personally, I am really keen to try but I am just worried that if I cant make it, I might end up in other sectors of the aviation industry which might not be of my interest.
I am also somewhat in a dilemma right now because currently, I am thinking whether should I join the Police Force(I serving NS there now as OCT) or should I sign on with the Singapore Navy(I love ships). In addition to the above two possible career paths mentioned above is my NASA path.
I have been deliberating quite hard over my prospective careers for these few days and everytime I tot I make a decision, I would be back to square one again because its like I still got this "lingering emotion" for the other career paths which I strike off already...
So what do you guys think? -

Actually izzit just me or is NASA is considered as a damn scewed up organisation?

NASA is a very specialized area in my opinion. Of course I could be wrong, I've never worked there. What will your career path be will all depends if your head rules your heart or vice versa. Think through carefully.

If you can enter Sg's space industry first....
NASA is pretty strict and stringent about their entry requirements....and being a US citizen gives u a plus point too. -
i would say near impossible. one big reason is u are not an American. of cos there are exceptions. but u had to be really really there to actually be even considered.
ST Aero might be a good stepping stone for ur dreams. its really good to see pple going for their dreams -
Singapore has a space industry? Hmm I dunno about that. Anybody with the relevant info?
AS far as I know, Singapore only has this organisation that tracks the deveploment of space technology in regional area, ie japan, china etc. This organisation also plays some supportive role by contributing knowledge and manpower to those country. This organisation is in no way, a space agency for our island republic. I believe we do not have our own space programs as of now. But still, anyone with relevant info cares to share?

And yes, sadly, NASA does gives priority to its own citizens for obvious reasons. And I dun tink I am ready to immigrate just to achieve my goals. -
I'm not sure if Singapore has its own space industry. But we do make our satellites and have launched them up into space. It has been published once in ST, the satellite is made by NTU.
As for space programs, there are not any that I know of, unless you are thinking of including astronomy. We have a few astronomy lovers here. -

Get your US citizenship, do your postgrad at Caltech, MIT or JPL. Get the required security clearance by working in government agencies first, then try to apply.
Even so, astronauts usually are selected from the USAF. Other staff who are in NASA usually do the scientific stuff, may not get to fly in space. -
Yup. ST aerospace is currently new age ballistic missiles powered by protoculture cells, that can make the D5 a thing of the past.

Try working towards either NTU's Satellite Engineering dept or ST Aerospace or DSO Labs, that's a more practical slant.
But if you want to migrate to pursue your dreams, by all means. No one's stopping you, and you certainly have my good wishes.

first you probably need to do your masters and phD in a foreign university, like MIT, or watever.
then u must do VERY VERY well in your studies, and also need professor recommendation.
and thats assuming NASA doesnt discriminate against Asians in the first place
