I want to say I have appreciated all your responses here.
I hope I have been at least a little successful in bringing some of you a different perspective on marijuana and on the hanging.
I wish all of you the best of luck in your work or studies. Perhaps we will meet one day in Los Angeles or in Singapore.

i'm singaporean and i think hemp should never have been lumped in with the heavy stuff like heroin and opium...
i'm not an advocate of capital punishment too..
HOWEVER, i am an advocate of being responsible for your actions and that your ignorance is no defense in the law, whatever law of the land you voluntarily choose to be in.. you go to a country and you obey the laws...
even if it was capital punishment...
hey... would you be saying any different about the africans who practise genital mutilation on their own daughters? it was okay in their own country in africa but in the UK, they had their asses thrown in jail...
respect the law in the country you go to..
the guy didn't... he should be punished like a local would...

Hi America citizen !!! That man is dead because he try to murder 100 of others by bring drugs in to kill them !!! Why about the 100 of families that he try to kill with drugs !!! It also seems that the fact that two young children begged for their father's life meant nothing to Singapore. This a horror on top of a horror.

Please use you brain before you talk .... being American does not mean you got a brain !!! Anyway by the look of it nothing much of it is functional as it is already 1/2 kill by drugs !!! By the way, let hope your children are all hooked to drugs then let see what you have to say about this !!! -
A thought: why are drug abusers who buy drugs always portrayed as the ''victim''?????? whereas drug traffickers are the ''murderers" ???? arent drug consumers in the wrong too? They are responsible for their own actions too wat

american human rights have no place here. u have to consider the situational application of ideas and rights.
different countries have different issues to deal with and the hanging here is for the societies good. -

I'm glad that in SG I know my tax money is not going to these people who are so "victimised" and not doing anything to help themselves
Same goes for those hooked on "legalised" drugs like pain killers for the pain killer addicts
At least I know the ppl here in SG get help and forced to kick the habit instead of getting more highs like in Oz
