JOHOR BARU: A group of men took a couple on a terror ride before raping the woman, the second such case in as many days here.
A 55-year-old contractor and his 35-year-old female friend had stopped at a petrol station along the Pasir Gudang highway at 10.30pm last week.
As he was filling up, three men armed with parang overpowered him and forced both victims into the car.
The assailants took the victims on a one-hour terror ride before stopping at a secluded area along the highway.
As in the case on Monday, the contractor was slashed in the leg when he tried to escape.
With the injured victim watching helplessly, the men took turns to rape the woman before fleeing in another car driven by an accomplice.
The victims lodged a police report after the incident.
On Monday, a 19-year-old girl was raped by three men as her boyfriend watched helplessly in Taman Tampoi Indah.
Their car was rammed into by another car. Three men in the car then abducted the couple. The boyfriend was also slashed in the leg when he tried to escape.
In another incident, a doctor, in her 50s, fell and injured her head after two thieves on a motorcycle snatched her handbag while she was walking to her car in Taman Melody yesterday.
Passers-by who saw the incident caught one of the suspects. He was handed over to the police. -

Nobody's gonna come to your aid, when you are faced with a gang load of weapon welding bums. Even in Sg, you think anyone will put their hand in to help you out when same incident happens. In your dreams boy!
Learning to run away, avoid trouble or apply soft skills to render your opponents incapable of attacking you effectively are also a big part of self-defence.
Some people seem to have this notion that self defence starts and ends from the fight or incident, but it does not.
In any case do you know how criminals pick their victims? They go by things like body posture, apperance and the like. In a sense they are no different from predators in the african savannah, they go for the weakest and most incapable of defending themselves and do not attack somebody that they think gives them a reasonable chance of getting injured themselves.
Hence, a group of robbers are far less likely to attack you if they know that even if they can kill you in the end, they will likely take serious damage or lose one or more of their own in the process. This is a great deterrence in itself. Predators want to get their meal with the least cost to themselves, not kill themselves in the process. It is the psycho that attacks people without regard to his own safety but fortunately most criminals are not like that.
Firearms is another question, unless you are in point blank range the only solution from firearms is to run and dodge. In medium range your options are far more limited. HOWEVER note at point blank range a gun is actually LESS dangerous then a knife.
Beyond 20 meters you are reasonably safe from pistol fire if you are running in an erratic pattern and always seeking cover. Unless that guy is a really good shot he is unlikely to hit you, and it beats standing around to get plugged. -

firearms in point blank range perhaps,but then from the depicted case, they do have a chance to shoot at mid range (and in surprise whic increases the chances) if they had the weapon. -
