Yes, i would recommed the SAF Brooks shoe. The cushioning is really good, and the shoe itself is cheap, esp when you buy it from emart. I should say that the SAF Brooks are quite comparable to asics, but asics come with a much heavier price tag.
As for nike free, i advise you dun buy them. I have a pair, they arent tt comfy and the ventilation is really quite poor, I just use them when I go out now. Quite sad, and they were not cheap too.
The Asics DX trainer, the new model is relatively good, if you compare it to a lightweight trainer, then its heavier, but for so called non-professional runners like me, its ok.
And pls dun buy racers, they look good yes, they are expensive and they are not durable. They are meant for competitive runner, hence they are designed with bare cushioning and can wear out very fast, especially the sole. They are not advisable for training runs even on pavements.
The new nike website, niketown and the adidas running website do provide some advise on footwear, but honestly I dun think they are quite helpful, and dun go to footwear shops to ask for advise, most of the time they provide untrue facts, in a bid to promote sales. Most importantly, know wad you want and what you prioritise, whether you consider budget, function, or design or all three. And do your research, other than by using this forum.
In conclusion, I would nevertheless still recommed the SAF Brooks!!!
