you can try airgrinder's method. this is really a good option.
I know your're still young *cough* but if you have 5K in your bank, you can try MayBank's iSavvy savings account... the interest is 1.68% pa if i'm not wrong.
Problem with isavvy is that you need 5k min. But StandChart does not.

it's called Xtra savers..
it's linked to ur e$savers account...comes with a atm card and a cheque book.
but then if u really wana save.. try not to apply for the card.

HSBC, AMRO, MAYBANK and i think 2 other banks de ATM can withdraw..

for a young one like you, you got more money than an old uncle like me ( then again i'm not old)... i suggest using stand chart.
Since there are so few ATMs... u'd be less tempted to withdraw money. Then again just be thrifty and not swipe that debit card too many times.. hahaha
However i don't suggest you close the POSBank Acc... still a very useful acct actually........
