this afternoon 4 pairs of my shoes got drenched.

  i put them out to dry. when it rained i forgot to bring them in. so they suffered the full brunt of the rain.
  
  what will happen to them? will they mildew or what? if smth bad happens what can i do to prevent it? is it dependent on the material? i scared my leather shoes and canvas shoes the most. what will happen to them?

  Shoes of this kind must be caredproperly and they can laast u very long
  Since it's drenched, i suggest you dry it, and put those "shoe balls" as from experience, they might stink

  My track shoes went with me thru mud, sweat, rain, down rivers and down the sea. Still okay. Those more expensive ones generally quality better.
  
  I'm not rich. Around 100 bucks can get you pretty decent shoes that last few years. Don't drag your feet, soles don't wear out fast should be able to last few years.

  The river actually washing it. Went mountain climbing, Malaysia. Not those 'river' aka giant lonkang river in sg. After dry no smell.
