Working in UMC, SSMC

I'm thinking of applying a job in the Pasir Ris Wafer Park - either UMC or SSMC.
I would like to know how is working in
1) UMC like? Is the working environment there good? How about the people there?
2) SSMC like? Is the working environment there good? How about the people there?
Anyone who has worked there before could give some advice before I make my decision?

Would like to know more about the work environment, the working at weekends.. and so on..? -
both are very tough... long working hours... 24 hr standby for everyday... may not able to claim OT...
why don't try IMflash? can go to USA for training for 6 months!!! -
ssmc got a lot of ppl leaving? why?

btw, anyone has any idea which fab best to work in? in terms of $$$ and management style? i know all semicon fab is high-stress jobs...thinking of leaving my this service job and join back customer... -

customer fabs i nt sure, but i know 6", 8", 12" is referring to the technology behind it. ie: 150mm, 200mm and 300mm size wafers. bigger wafer better yields since u can cut more out of it.

Qimonda & IMFlash are both 300mm fabs.. If u join Q, you can go to French for training... u go IMFlash, u can go USA...
I heard from ppl saying both Taiwanese fabs UMC & SSMC are quite tough to survive... they are very demanding...
HNS... heard they pay u OT automatically after 5pm...
STM.... no comment..

think maybe i apply for qimonda, they gave me a v gd impression.

my friend in Chartered is looking for a process engineer.... are you fresh graduate or with experience??? but sure u want to work in wafer fab??? very stress one and long working hours... sometimes no OT leh...

Process engineer is easier to switch to other process engineer in other field area. But for equipment engineer........ what can people who are in equipment engineer switch to? Just wondering...
How come so many want to be process engineer than equipment engineer? Is it process engineer has a better career prospect? -

TECH pays OT... and guarantee you work max OT EVERY week... no life...
HNS pays OT... after working hours... automatically pay u... don't need to claim one..
Taiwanese fabs... not very sure...
the rest... expect u to work OT EVERYDAY and EXPECT u don't claim (for engineers and above levels)...
