    • My mum made 4 x $50 contribution. The society really help my family a lot (in terms of emotionally & medical advice) before my father passed away. This is a good society.

not trying to say not to donate to the society, but rather i would rather the pple take the money and donate directly to the society rather than call. they waste 20 cents with each call to singtel which would be better spent being donated......

    • What I can indicate for all to know is that the society help my family:

      - Emotional help
      - Doctor & Nurse House Visit
      - Medical & Nutritional (e.g. to let me dad drink 'ENSURE' package milk since he cannot consume much due to stomach cancer etc) advice
      - Free Wheelchair loan (the moment when my dad was too weak to walk)
      - Free Medicine (e.g. morphine to lessen my dad's pain)
      - 24 x 7 helpline call (I think so, cause I called whenever there is emergency advice & help needed)

The doctor (Her name is Dr Win or Wynn - sorry, forgotten the actual spelling but she appears in the Singapore Cancer Society TV advertisment) even visited my family the days before my dad really passed away. My dad is constantly burping yellowish, filthy liquid from his mouth every minute by then. You cannot really felt/realize the scene and emotional pain seeing your family member in pain and waiting for death, whereby you can't help in anyway.

She even helps to come to our house in the evening to certify my dad's death time.

This is true. I wanted to let all who read to know. This is a good society.

To individual choice, I just want to let everyone know that this is not a bogus society based on my experience. Just doing my bit for the society that PRO-ACTIVELY approached us directly (without us seeking for help) after my dad diagnosed with last stage of stomach cancer. My dad suffers for about 1.5 years before finally passed away 5 months ago.

    • Now is the time where the needy is 'begging' for help. I don't understand. Why Singaporean can rush to help other countries once there is calamity, but our own fellow country people doesn't help?

Even foreigners come to help their bit in the show, and this show got no fancy gifts or prizes. It is not done like old NKF. Old NKF ways of doing is a disgrace to the country.

I thank you on behalf of the society. Hope the society can maximize the usage of the $ to help more fellow country mates and needy.
