Foreigners everywhere

  Do you realise that we have so many foreigners nowadays in Singapore? When I am on the MRT train and look around me, I do not feel that I am in Singapore anymore. It is like a rojak of all nationalities; Chinese from China speaking loudly, Indian with a certain body odour(no offence), Burmese with the innocent look, Malaysians with their unique mandarin accent, Indonesians, Filipinos, Europeans, US and so many others. They could be here on work permit only or permanent residents or they have become citizens like you and me. Our landscape has changed and hopefully they blend into our society and we continue to uphold our mannerism and gracefulness. Otherwise our Singaporeaness will slowly diminish under the shadow of them.

  no problem with multinational and multicultural. that make us unique. i am fine with it if there are say 10 thousands among 4 millions of us. Seems like they are 1 million among 3 millions of us, 1 in every 3, seems a lot. Where is our Singapore identity then.

  Singapore is a land full of opportunities.

  No.....it's because you are on an MRT.
  
  If you go to HDB.....you see 90%above are Singaporeans.
  
  So, it depends on the location.
  
  If you go to 5-star hotel, you see more western tourists, but it doesnt mean Singapore is swamped by westerners.
  
  All depends on location.
  
  MRT.....what do you expect...
  
  If you look at the road...the car drivers....I think above 90% are Singaporeans.

  Public transport also depends on the situation....like you say MRT....depends....
  
  For instance, if u take MRT during morning rush hour to CBD....you will see more Singaporeans.
  
  If you take a bus during a weekend night to Little India, you will see more foreigners.
  
  One time I was in a bus which was almost full, going through Little India, and I saw above 95% were foreigners.

  THAT is our Singapore identity. We should more than welcome these people. And not act like malaysia and shun foreigners. They shun foreigners who want to invest in malaysia because they are 'afraid' that foreigners will have too much power over their economy. How dumb is that? Malaysia is going to build a business hub in johor and they are reluctant to let rich singaporeans get involved. LMAO

  Singapore face a problem which is ageing population and it is because our birthrate has drop thats why Singapore welcome people from other country to join us.

  Hmm, Yeah Foreigners.. are gg to form a large fabric of our society man. CHee, like the latest census stated that there are like about 1million Foreign folks in Singapore as of 2006.
  
  I guess SG has to import FX labor and talent to complement and maintain economy's growth. Just look at the European Union, heh, they are considering the launch of their Blue card system ( similar to the green card system in the U.S) to hire FX talent to come and work in any EU states.
  
  the only issue i have is.. Well.. Those FX talents (From Asean countries) come in to SG, are willing to take low pay, and in the process undercut us and companies hire them instead?.. Hmm Oh well. another issue is.. Who ascertains that they are indeed talents? Sure they have their Masters or bachelor's degree, but it's merely paper quaifications and most likely it could be forged (nobody will know right?). But how they perform on the Job is really crucial. I think there shd be a probation period, where if they under-perform, they should be deported back home.. lar.
  
  For the record, If you meet an Indian expatriate from India who says that he is a Master's graduate frm INdia, please do not be too overly impressed because there are scores of Universities in India offering Master degree programs at damn cheap prices and their entry requirements are really dubious and i would say sub standard ba.
  
  Then you look at Republic Food court, which decided to replace all the old dish collector aunties with sweet young gals from China, hmm this is the 1st sign of such.. low level jobs being taken away from the low income Singaporean workers. If you noticed, there are also increasingly a large presence of really beautiful PRC ladies working as toilet cleaners in shopping malls now. Hmm So yeah.. you can say.. On all fronts (white collar jobs) and (low level jobs) are increasingly colonised by .. Fx talents..

  I was born in malaysia. Dad is singaporean and im singaporean now. Been living here for the most of my life, but i have seen enough of msia to make a judgement. Problems with you? Nope. With your government, definitely.
