my thought is disadvantage to jc students..
provided they mug so hard for a levels in order to get into uni and now a new uni is opening up uni admission to the poly students.. not saying that all poly students are slackers which it isn't.
but somehow the new uni would advantage the poly students will lower the overall gpa requirements for poly students from original 3.5 to about 3 or even lower.??
isnt that also granting admission and advantage to some "lucky slackers"??
then the poor jc student mug so hard when they graduate together with the addition of new graduates from the new uni they face jobs competition then in the end also suffer with a lower pay..
unfair la.. really must see those jc students really mug like statues leh.. they deserve to stand out in this society wad..
btw this is a comment from a sec 4 boy.(not taking sides on Jc or poly.)
but seriously this is how i feel..

there's a reason why there is preferred entrance provided to JC students.
basically, JC students wish to take the riskier route of having a "useless" A level cert to get into Uni one year faster than Poly students. Poly students have less risk as they get a professional cert that already allows them to get substantial jobs. JC studies are too basic in any field to get a proper professional job.
the differences between entrance into JC and Poly has been declining through the years. Ie. L1R5 15 points to get into a ok JC, L1R4 13 to get to an ok course in poly. therefore, if you wanna go into uni, just go to JC!

Let it be specially made for poly students. So theyd stop complaining that they cant get in. And then mourn for the poor JC students who cant get into university because they dont have anything worthwhile. I look at people in my army camp. Just look across the room and i can find a handful of A level students that didnt make it into university. But they arent complaining. They are gonna retake their A levels, or go to poly, go overseas, go to private university. But just nearby are a bunch of poly grads complaining they cant get into university. Who is worse off?
I dont mind the 4th university being a liberal arts college. It is time for something new.

Hmmm, wat is SOTA?
actually no point quarrelling over poly or jc should have the priority to enter uni lar lar. i think both have fair chance. It just that should the 4th uni take u more student. As wat i noe not all poly student with gpa of 3.5 or above gets to enter local uni. Come'on, keep the comment coming in.
I need some positive feedback from u guy. What are your expectation, like having good research facilites or better program? Maybe specialisation in certain area. All suggestion are welcome. thank you thank you

Harvard or Oxford?

In other senses, school fees (uni) too peanuts to them....must justify their moneeee, therefore, go overseas since the sch fees cost more..Edited by dcx 30 Oct `07, 9:00PM

but seriously this is how i feel..you come poly and see how possible it is to slack and still score more than 3.0
you have yet to even graduate from secondary school so don't talk like you know how life is in JC or Poly

sg education fee is not cheap, by further studies will meant a student will not set into working life, hence giving parents more burden to pay for their education.
however not many pple can afford it so they have no choice but to take up loan from bank/cpf.
after the students can graduated, can they ensure they have a good life finding a good job to repay their parents?

I dont mind the 4th university being a liberal arts college. It is time for something new.if you fail A level, you can retake and have a whole new result. if you don't get at least 3.5 in your poly results, you can't simply wait 1 year to retake, you have to retake the whole course to get your 3.5
thus poly students who wish to go to university have to mug throughout their 3 years in poly while JC students can wait til their second year til make a crashcourse for their As
Did you think of them?
why they aren't complaining? look at the number of poly students the local Unis are taking in then tell me who is worse off
Not everyone is rich enough to go overseas
And right now, I think even 3.7 might not get you into Uni
