    • TODAY news: Mr Tibbets( pilot who carried out the world's first atomic attack above Hiroshima) died on Thursday aged 92, insisted almost to his dying day that he had no regrets about the mission and slept just fine at night.

... He did not apologised, arguing... that the bombing millions of American and Japanese lives by ending the war...

why should Mr Tibbets apologise? if the Japanese never had the huge ambition to 'swallow' america that led to the bombing of pearl habour, would the america do this to them? the rest of the world would have become Japan now!

... "but i wanted him to visit Hiroshima and take a direct look at what he did as a human being" said Mr Tohei, who co-chairs the Japan Confederation of A- and H- Bomb Sufferers Organisations, who now lives in Tokyo.

Is he sure only the Japanese suffers from the war? who started the war in the first place? why doesnt he visit the countries his beloved country has done damage??

they wanted others to realise their mistakes and impact done to Japan. But they themselves failed to see their own actions. So ironic!

its not that i hate Japan or what. but it is a fact they never fail to admit the war is never their fault.

No religion on earth have ever apologised for causing wars in the name of their god...

So in japan case.. .maybe partly due to their religion also? Mr. Green

What's there to regret and apologise. Mr Tibbets and the crew of Enola Gay were just carrying out an executive order from the US President.

    • the first bomb dropped on nagasaki, a rather deserted place. It was the japaneses who refused to surrender that caused the second bomb to drop on hiroshima.

      oh ya you are right.

Anyway, the japs deserved it since they land a cheap move on pearl harbour. The pilot is just carrying out the order and the pilot may have some friends who died during WW2 so you cant blame him if he has no regrets.

    • the japs never did officially apologise for the war….the previous prime ministers put out statements of regrets for the hardship the war caused but never for starting the war…so why should the a-bomber apologise….

    • On August 9, 1945, following the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the Soviet declaration of war, Emperor Hirohito told Kido to "quickly control the situation" because "the Soviet Union has declared war and today began hostilities against us."

On August 10, the cabinet drafted an "Imperial Rescript ending the War" following the emperor's indications that the declaration did not compromise any demand which prejudiced the prerogatives of His Majesty as a Sovereign Ruler.

On August 12, the emperor informed the imperial family of his decision to surrender. One of his uncles, Prince Asaka, then asked whether the war would be continued if the kokutai (national polity) could not be preserved. The emperor simply replied "of course."

    • Yamash!ta's gold, also referred to as the Yamash!ta treasure, is the name given to an urban legend of alleged loot stolen in Southeast Asia by Japanese forces during World War II and hidden in caves, tunnels and underground complexes in the Philippines. The number, size and value of the loot troves in the Philippines are unknown.

The "gold" reportedly included many different kinds of valuables looted from banks, depositories, temples, churches, other commercial premises, mosques, museums and private homes. It takes its name from General Tomoyuki Yamash!ta, who assumed command of Japanese forces in the Philippines in 1944.

According to various accounts, the loot was initially concentrated in Singapore, from where it was later relayed to the Philippines.[2] The Japanese hoped to ship the treasure from the Philippines to the Japanese home islands after the war ended. As the Pacific War progressed, Allied submarines and aircraft inflicted increasingly heavy losses on Japanese merchant shipping. Some ships carrying loot back to Japan were sunk.

Some historians have argued that looting was organized on a massive scale, by both yakuza gangsters such as Yoshio Kodama, and the highest levels of Japanese society, including Emperor Hirohito.[3] The Japanese government intended that loot from Southeast Asia would finance Japan's war effort. It is alleged that Hirohito appointed his brother, Prince Chichibu, to head a secret organization called Kin no yuri ( "Golden Lily" ), for this purpose.

think again...i don't think the civilians are innocent cos they too supported the war.

without their own people's support, will japan go ahead with the war?

they led a poor live n their love ones r being forced by the empire to invade other lands so dat they can have a better life, so this is the case of giving wrong moral support but afterall they were families.

wat the japanese armies did were heartless, but there was no reason for the US to kill innocent japanese since the japanese armies refused to surrender rite?
