Actually, the hottest field of study is probably not the field one should go into. Take for eg, engineering is a hot field of study. Life science is another example. However, do these group of pple earn a lot of money when they come out to work? Not really. The market is so saturated with engineers gradautes and so if an engineer dont take up this job, another will. So the starting pay will never be too high.
Another way of looking at it is thro investing. One year ago or two, pple were saying china oil is a good investment. China oil is a really hot field of investing even now. Unfortunately, if you want to make any big money, you must have incredible foresight and started buying china oil 5-10years ago. And now while so many are buying china oil, it is your time to sell your shares on china oil and invest on other stuff.
In other words, now is the time to sell shares like china oil, not buy.
Now is not the time to study engineering or life science. Maybe death science (forsenics) would be better. -

The Hard Problem of Consciousness, (HPoC) I guess, would be a really really good guess... but I am talking about something that is more cutting edge than that and you can say that it came about as an offshoot from the scientific study of consciousness...
