Religion should not be respected and immune to criticism
and examination just because it is granted the title of
"RELIGION".

Any good idea(s) should be able to stand on its own
merit, and respect earned because it deserves it, not because it IS
religion and people might be offended by it.

<a href="http://www.iheu.org/node/2782" rel=

1. Universal rights and equal citizenship for all. We are opposed
to cultural relativism and the tolerance of inhuman beliefs,
discrimination and abuse in the name of respecting religion or
culture.
2. Freedom to criticise religion. Prohibition of restrictions on
unconditional freedom of criticism and expression using so-called
religious 'sanctities'.
3. Freedom of religion and atheism.
4. Separation of religion from the state and legal and educational
system.
5. Prohibition of religious customs, rules, ceremonies or
activities that are incompatible with or infringe people's rights
and freedoms.
6. Abolition of all restrictive and repressive cultural and
religious customs which hinder and contradict woman's independence,
free will and equality. Prohibition of segregation of sexes.
7. Prohibition of interference by any authority, family members or
relatives, or official authorities in the private lives of women
and men and their personal, emotional and sexual relationships and
sexuality.
8. Protection of children from manipulation and abuse by religion
and religious institutions.
9. Prohibition of any kind of financial, material or moral support
by the state or state institutions to religion and religious
activities and institutions.
10. Prohibition of all forms of religious intimidation and
threats.

Fundimentism is a dangerous thing.
Religion is all right just as long as people do not blindly accept
whatever they were told, and react emotionally without using their
rational mind to think.

This is not about religion or God. It's about reality.

Quote:

Malmø, Sweden. The police now publicly admit what many
Scandinavians have known for a long time: They no longer control
the situation in the nations's third largest city. It is
effectively ruled by violent gangs of Muslim immigrants.

Some of the Muslims have lived in the area of Rosengård, Malmø, for
twenty years, and still don't know how to read or write
Swedish.

Ambulance personnel are attacked by stones or weapons, and refuse
to help anybody in the area without police escort.

The immigrants also spit at them when they come to help. Recently,
an Albanian youth was stabbed by an Arab, and was left bleeding to
death on the ground while the ambulance waited for the police to
arrive.

The police themselves hesitate to enter parts of their own city
unless they have several patrols, and need to have guards to watch
their cars, otherwise they will be vandalized.

"Something drastic has to be done, or much more blood will be
spilled" says one of the locals.

amen to this... err sorry heh. I think a lot of you appear to be
missing the point, they're not banning religion they're banning the
act of telling people how to think... young minds are
impressionable and know no different if you tell them that one
religion is true - that's not an informed belief that's a taught
belief, and I don't believe that any religions will stand up and
say they want people to believe out of conditioning rather than
true belief of someone deciding that they believe in this god and
this way of life.

That said, if this catches on I can see a lot of scared people in
high places who realise without saying as definite fact that their
religion is right and without the fear that then instills in the
child if they don't believe then religion could fizzle out.

Now my opinion hehe, I think it's great. I also think religions
have no right to be scared, plenty of people find religion later in
life and they'll be the people who really believe it. How is
telling kids a certain religion is right any different from telling
them that one political position is right? you all seem to have a
problem with the Chinese way so why not the religious way? Is it
really all that different? Except there's proof that the Chinese
government exists, and they don't kill millions of people every
year with tidal waves and hurricanes do they?
A persons beliefs should be their own choice not the choice of the
government, a school or their parents. There's nothing stopping
them going to church/synagogue/mosque every *insert relevant
time/day here* is there? schools are for learning proven fact and known reality or at
the very least theorys based around observed reality with basis in
proven fact, does religion fall into those categories? no. by all
means teach kids what different religions believe but don't force
one on them, that's not for schools, that's for church and pushy
parents. Go sweden

Its a good idea ...

AFTER all its not , you , he , him and her and god.

Its just you and god .... And if you really love him , u will go
and find him yourself....

Just be a good boy/girl and show ur devotion to god alone.
Not with all ur kakis.

Yes, I would believe in the existance of that particular god/being
if he shows himself to me, and that when I wasn't drunk or
anything...etc. Why not.
Weather I would kao-tao to it is another thing. Is it worthy of my
worship?

For instance, I can never worship with my heart a hell-creator who
would torture people for eternality for a mere disbelieve (or
anything); and accept that it can still be a good/benevolent
'god'.
Actually come to think of it, being a coward myself, I might
actually do so for self-presevation sake!!!

If there's to be a god that I can believe,
it'll be the Naturalistic Pantheist God:
http://www.pantheism.net/

It's not whether a God is worthy of your worship, that's like an
ant asking whether you're worthy of it's attention. The question is
are YOU worthy of that particular god?

i say religion is wot makes kids more obidient....

Absolutely true, a few of my cousins attend Jewish schools and
there the kids are so insanely obedient it's almost creepy.

Erm... just to clarify a point... prayer is
legal in American schools.

Christian fundies like to claim that it's banned but it's
not.

What is banned is school led prayer.

So a teacher cannot say, "class, now let us bow our heads in
prayer."

A coach cannot say, "let us pray before the game."

The basis for this is the Establishment clause of the US
Constitution which states that "Congress shall make no law
respecting an establishment of religion...." Since teachers are
public schools are government institutions, they are bound by that
law.

However, students are free to pray whenever they want.

And of course, this does not apply at all to private schools.

I would like it better if their government can come up with a
law to prevent religious heckling that a religion is true unless
the religion can come up with actual proof.

Originally posted by Deino:

i think i got your answer
already......since you say that a god would most likely not exist,
you are saying that there is still a "likeliness" that they may
exist....

Yup...as long as that particular god is defined without
contradiction (i.e. Free Will and an Omniscent All powerful
universe creator IS a contradiction)...
It might exist, but you can never prove or disprove...i.e. you can
never truely know.
Hence there's no reason to believe.
It remains a negligible possibility such that I should not spend
too much of my time in worrying about.
