HD Ready?

Hey, is there any difference between full HD and HD ready TV?
I want to get a PS3 then they say for maximum entertainment should play the PS3 on a HD TV.
But I too poor cant afford all those sony, sharp, panasonic branded HD TV.
Then I saw this 32" Akira HD READY TV at Carrefour that costs $500+ only.
SO, is there a difference?
Can still play PS3 on the Akira TV? -

lol. coz ps3 is i use my own money to buy. then hd tv is ask my parents to sponsor coz it will be placed in the living room anyways heheh.
wat freedomfighter said is true... i looked around and the cheapest branded HD TV is like $1000. and that is a 20" de ok haha.

Ok, a brief breakdown of difference between "HD Ready" and "Full HD" LCD TVs..
HD Ready LCD TVs have a resolution of 1366x768..it can support HDMI inputs as long as it as ports for HDMI..
Full HD LCD TVs have a resolution of 1920x1080..
HD Ready LCD TV's contrast ratio is not as high as Full HD LCD TV's contrast ratio..meaning Full HD LCD TV's contrast is better..
And the number of colours the LCD panel of a HD Ready LCD TV produce is also lesser than the LCD panel of a Full HD LCD TV..meaning a Full HD LCD TV has more colours, and pictures look more vibrant..
This is about all..
And another thing is, there is 1080i and 1080p for Full HD LCD TV..the 'i' simply stands for interlace and the 'p' simply stands for 'progressive'..it's the scanning system used by the TV..Interlace scanning is better than Progressive scanning..with Interlace scanning, pictures appear more natural..but the difference is very minimal to the human's naked eyes..

obviously, full hd will give you a nicer image but 720p will suffice for PS3 playing.
unless of cos u r going for the full hd experience

I did some research just now and found out more about HD ready electronics.
For those who wants to know more:
A HD ready electronic is ready for a HD appliance.
e.g a HD ready tv have a scart socket and a hdmi socket. if you were to buy a normal dvd player and plug it into the scart socket, it would play normally. Your TV won't display anything in HD.
BUT if you were to buy another HD product (say a blu-ray disc player), then the hdmi socket comes into play.
you just need to hook it up with the hdmi socket with the HD cable that comes with the blu-ray player. after that, whatever show you are watching will be in HD on your HD ready TV.
Another thing about HD ready is that it means your TV will be capable of receiving HD signals should MEDIACORP decides to start broadcasting all its shows and dramas in HD. -

orh ok. but since u said its not noticeable to the naked human eye then i tink its ok lah. unless you want to play wearing an microscope lol
