who shay sho ?? both is incestuoactious wadOriginally posted by spammer@sgforums:ok, i've got an interesting topic to discuss.
why is it that a relationship between a man and a woman sharing the same biological father, but different biological mothers is considered as incestuous?
where as that between a man and a woman sharing the same biological mother, but different biological fathers is not?
it might be interesting to note that half of our genes derives from our father's, while the other half derives from our mother's....or, perhaps, i was wrong about that?
or, maybe, a child's genes always resemble the father's more than the mother's, since sperm is produced by the father, while the mother only produces eggs to provide a conducive environment for the sperm to develope? perhaps, it's the sperm that carries the bulk of the genes of a child, and not the egg?
is this the correct explanation?
some malays and indonesians call their hubbies or people dear to them abang which also means elder brother actuallyOriginally posted by spammer@sgforums:from what i know, cousins can intermarry, provided they belong to the mother's side, not the father's side.
for example, i can marry my mother's brother/sister's daughter, but not my father's brother/sister's daughter.
i think that is allowable in chinese customs.
but as to my original question, somehow quite a few korean dramas seem to promote this sort of intimate relationship leh.
in which, the girl always call her lover, " oom-ba" ( elder brother), and her lover is actually her half-brother, but having a different biological father only.
maybe in most customs, this is also allowed? i dunno....
korean shows like to chu this type of pattern to make it more stunning for the audience when theres family relations involved... just like in star wars, vader tell luke he is lin lao bei then stun himOriginally posted by spammer@sgforums:from what i know, cousins can intermarry, provided they belong to the mother's side, not the father's side.

what's first cousin or 2nd cousin?Originally posted by Slipshade:I'm not sure about second cousins, but first cousins are definitely considered as incest, no matter paternal or maternal side. But laws on incest (especially pertaining to cousins) most likely differs in different countries and cultures.
The blue part is correct. Half from father, half from mother.Originally posted by spammer@sgforums:ok, i've got an interesting topic to discuss.

so you do not mind doing it with your sibling?Originally posted by w.eikaas:I think incest is something of yesteryears... today we are more concerned about the biological implications that comes with the relationship, that is when you reproduce with someone genetically close. I mean, look at the British Royal Family - most of them mate with someone related - and see what happen to the next generation... end up with weaker genes, sissified end-products (not referring to Prince William and sibling cos Princes Diana is not originally from the Royal Family). So yeah, if the bro and sis or cousins want to get into a relationship, then forego having children rather, go for adoption; spare your next generation the agony dealing with issues of the health.
the same family couples would pass the weaker genes to the other generation while no good genes is being taken from the outside people... for e.g like being isolated in north korea and no contact with outside world... nothing good comes out of the country, no electronic gadgets, entertainment etcOriginally posted by applesweetgirl:hmm...
actually why are children from incest couples retarded or weaker ar? very curious about this!
adam and eve i thought is the first humans created.. after that got other humans sprouted from other countries...Originally posted by doghouse837:As bible say, the world start with Adam and Eve, so were are decendants of them, does it say that were are all the end product of incest?
any one can answer?
