living abroad alone feeling homesick and all

well my friend is overseas at canada and will be there for 4 months. so being the nice friend i am, i have decided to get her a gift or something because she was telling me how homesick she is and stuff.
but the problem is i donno what to buy her to ease her homesick feeling. she is a very dependent girl and being abroad alone by herself is tough.
so to all forumers if u all have experience of living abroad, how u all overcome this feeling and what gift would really liven your day up?
btw how to send the gift there ah?
i dont even know how to snail mail. haha.
on a side note, i was thinking of buying her a diary, the left pages i and a friend will write something different for 120 pages. then on the right pages will be blank for her to write. but what to write i havent thought of.my intention is to simulate someone for her to talk to when she is feels lonely and stuff. any opinions? -

as for the rates go here to check them out. Don't say ex hor, cuz speedpost seems to be the easiest option for residential overseas posting. Fedex and UPS seems to be more interested in business de...

Draw Public Holidays pictures on respective dates?
Draw dates to count down her return during the last week of her stay in Canada?
Occasionally ask her how's things over on her side?
If your remember what u guys did in the previous year, u could write something abt it?
Also write to tell her what you are planning to do??
And if you have more common friends.. Ask them to write something as well..

dont waste your time la.
you have a soft spot for her so u wana do this to "impress" her. show her that u care about her.
you will waste all your time and effort for nothing cause when shes there she will meet other guys to attend to her. whatever you send to her will be left un-used and probably not brought back to sg when she returns. -

since you havent been seeing her for 4 years (thats very long), i can say that the r/s between you and her isnt that intact (or maybe you 2 keep in touch over the net or sth) .... So what makes you want to do all these for her?
Being a nice friend, huh? Do you sort of like her or sth along the lines?
The diary idea is good, accompanied with some pictures. On the left page you can write bout the memories and fun you all had.... but not meeting for 4 years is like....? Maybe thats the reason you have no idea to write? So it's back to question one above
If it's me, i will write the fun we had together, and draw some cartoons to illustrate (if i dont have the pictures).. then place in pictures for some entries.... And also get a recorder, record things i want to say to the person.. funny stuffs.... so she can play it when shes feelin lonely.... -
