Password hacked into

Anybody here experienced this situation before? Jus curious..
If important passwords like singpass, internet banking etc are hacked into and money is stolen, I am sure the police will investigate.
But what about less important passwords like email password hacked into and than the person change the password and security question so that you are not able to log in the existing email account and than he/she uses your email to impersonate as you?
Such cases will the police investigate? -

yes i believe you can actually call the police for this kind of stuff if you really want to. you never know if the hacker will commit crimes with your identity.

if that impersonation uses vulgar language on other people. make threats that can be criminal or have changed your profile to disgraced you.
Yes, you can make report to police, and you can contact the administrators of the email sites and have it tracked or removed. -

If you lost your Singpass, the police will not investigate, UNLESS, that bugger knows your IC number as well. Lose your Singpass, go and reset it.
Internet Banking - police investigate? Please. They are not so free. You have to look up your previous months statements, or even going back to years to see if there are any discrepancies. Then notify the banks. Although unlikely that the banks will return you the backdated lost money, but previous months' could be recovered.
And for goodness sake, please go and reformat and reinstall the operating system. The fact that your accounts have been hacked hints that some spying softwares are on your computer. And keep them up-to-date. Do you know how easy it is to exploit an unpatched computer? It's very easy, let me tell you. As long as you gained access to anything, whether or not there's damage, it's a crime. Because you aren't supposed to have access, and you have access.

While you are right, the police is right as well. Besides, sgF server is not in Singapore.
Even if the Judge gives the OK to investigate the case, they won't be able to proceed far. -

because this is just a case of mischief. no criminal intention involved.
but in the case of singpass and internet banking password hacked into and money is stolen from the account, it is clearly a criminal case and the police definetly will investigate. -
I think for those site that connects to the bank, the police might want to investigate it.

For internet banking, it's may be a no. Unless... there has been a recent spate of crimes which seems to follow a pattern. As internet banking crimes can cross borders, it's not possible for the police to investigate unless other countries cooperate as well. As for CPF... well... I'm not sure on the issue. But if your IC is stolen... then they will have to check. Singpass falls under another ministry handling. So is CPF.
