    • Hi all, I just check out SK and they show me a brillant rose ring for about $368. They said that only SK have this kind of cutting.. I dunno anything about diamond and stuff... so is it a good deal?

*They added that this is a promotion price and the price will increase once the promotion ended... Previously, I went to Goldheart to buy a necklace, they tole me the same thing.. but I check about the necklace, it's the same price = =

    • Girls must know the 4 Cs about diamonds: Cut, Clarity, Carat and Colour.

Guys must know the 4 Cs about diamonds too: Cash, Credit Card and Cheque.

    • Well, price are revised from time to time. I only seen increase and not decrease unless the design hard to sell then maybe they will put it on promotion prices.

I believe it was Soo Kee as b.Rose is Soo Kee's signature unless now the cutting goes to SK which is her sister company who carry cheaper range.

66(I think) facet cutting is what make b.Rose more expensive than the normal heart and arrows(near perfect or not; normal diamonds are heart and arrows also but that the cutting might not be so precise to obtain the hearts and arrow diagram under a scope).

Anyway, it will depend on how heavy, clarity and colour of the diamond. But since you say that 300+ then I think it must be very small. Rolling Eyes Maybe 0.1 carat?

    • Anyway, if you are looking for diamonds without certifications(usually below 0.3 carat), know nuts of it, and wanted good diamonds...

Stay clear of Taka, Citigems, SK and other lower range shop. On the side note... and maybe their sister companies as you never know how is circulation of the goods.

But I had seen SK normal diamonds' cutting and polishing better than Taka's hearts and arrows though. Wink

Cos Internation well known certifications only for 0.3 carat and above diamonds. Smaller than that only in house cert if there is.

i think more likely to be 0.01 or 0.03 carats if is brilliant rose..

    • Aiyah..all gimmicks la..SK have their Brilliant Rose cut, Goldheart have their Celestial cut..they all claim only they have this kind of cut..of cuz la! They modify other people's cut a bit here and there and claim it to be their own unique cut and claim that their cut will make their diamonds the brightest of all..bullsh!t.. Laughing

Yes, indeed the cut of the diamond is very important to determine whether will it shine brightly or not..but if you compare, let's say, SK's Brilliant Rose and Goldheart's Celestial, I think you won't be able to tell which is brighter..

But some are rather unique..like Lee Hwa's Hearts on Fire..can really see hearts in the cut of the diamond..but again, that's with microscope..with our naked eyes, it's just another shiny diamond..

And like what mr_sotong said..diamonds ARE indeed overrated..

    • Thnx all for reply. It's Sookee.. sry my bad.. Anyway, she sales girl said that this promotion b.rose ring had a cert where you can exhange after 2 years or so.. like if you brought this for $368, after 2 years like say you want a $500 diamond ring, you only need to pay the remaining sum with your current $368 ring only.

I did research on some Jewellery forum and someone said that Sookee charged b.rose way overpriced and even mention that it's not H&T cut? I dunno what h&T cut means anyway.. but he mention that Taka is better for cost-wise.

Hmm.. actually I did not intend to invest or anything.. I just want to buy a ring for my girlfriend which i can afford and want her to be happy.

Anyway, that promotion $368 ring is not bad though im tempted to buy. She claimed that it's the last one and other outlet might not have it.. and wanted me to put a $50 deposit to 'book' this ring. I just told her that I'll be looking around and will come back if it's still there.. so I'm abit confuse whether to buy it or not...
