In my opinion, the PRC these days speak better English than the Taiwanese.
if ur talking about accents does it matter if they knew little or much english? accents belong to sounds not meanings -

And why should I blame myself? I seriously think they have nothing better to air so they come out with an idea like this
For your reference, I am not a fan of both Taiwanese and Singaporean Variety shows. I don't waste my time watching them. -

I agree that we have room for a lot of improvements but I certainly do not think we are anywhere like they pointed out.

I said they ran out of ideas because that brings back to the topic of accents and them making fun of our English. And then you had to bring in the talk about them making shows from their hearts etc . so i said they probably werent script followers therefore running out of ideas doesnt apply (to something directly felt)
therefore proving u wrong in saying they ran out of ideasand when you say something heartfelt u dont need to be egoistic
like most of us dont know much about indians but we go around making fun of them anyway

Um sorry to burst your bubble guys but I find the Singaporean standard of English quite low. It's not Singlish I'm talking about but when they actually try to speak English. Oh and btw jay_rocks, I find it quite ironic that you typed 'wrongly' in your post, I guess you should feel 'ashame'.

i do not think the standard of english is low though. i mean this is a forum where everyone come in to chill. so there is nothing wrong in typing wrong words or even having short form. this is not writing compo or anything. actually most singaporeans can write and speak proper english. i just want to ask though. are you a singaporean urself then? -

it does not matter to me though. i mean it comes out from the mouths of people who do not even know how to speak proper english though. and what's more, many years back i saw a taiwan variety show that one of the challenges they posted was to speak english and many ppl on the streets have difficulty in speaking english though. so it's ok though. i'm not saying that we are better than them but they too have no right in saying us. -
What's the point of laughing at one another? Those people (just those on Kang Xi, not all Taiwanese) have already demonstrated their shallow-mindedness through abusing their laughable media for profit-driven objectives.

Some Singaporeans mock foreign accents and manners, and lots of us stereotype foreigners in general. Even the local media do it.
If the Taiwanese chaps are that sanctimonious, they probably won't spare the Scottish burr or Chinese qiang when they hear it.
There are better things to get worked up over.
