    • an Ibanez is the classic in use these days I guess although the grunge/alternative sound was actually predominantly developed on Les Pauls… with your budget I’d reccomend an Ibanez tbh, you can get very good quality ones for relatively low prices – the Gio range is pretty good as budget guitars go.

    • or a fender amp if you get to test it out first – some have crap distortion which wouldn’t be particularly good for alt rock. that said Ibanez do amps too that are probably more budgeted… I personally use an old Carlsbro most of the time but you’d be pushed to find one and it wouldn’t be particularly good for alt rock i guess. to be fair on a budget you’re not gonna get the sound you’d get normally anyway and if you can get a good sound out of a crap amp that’s a good skill to develop if you ever play gigs or festivals where the amps are provided cos… they won’t be any good lol erm as for pickups I’d suggest some humbuckers, you’re not really after the great big solo sound in alt rock so go for the benefit of the clean (esp if you’ll play with lots of distortion) i’d say…

After reading it, I still reckon VOX AC30. The one I'm using right now. But is expensive, though I've forgotten how much I got for it somehow. icon_lol.gif
