Some expect too much, some maybe just right, some little, but heck, people perceive things differently, too much to some people may seem just right for others and vice versa.

Anyway economic students will understand a thing as an invisible hand.
If females have high expectations, most males will not fit their criteria and they will be elimated. On the other hand, these high expectation ladies will haf no companions and as time passes, will slowly lower their expectations.
When expectations are lowered, there will be men who fit the bill and they live happily together ever after.
That is from a woman's point of view ( me myself) . Dunoe why guys keep bitching bout our high expectations. External factors will definately result in sum kind of equilibrium. So seriously just quit whining.

well who can u blame?Eligible woman ( good education ) will of coz go for eligible men. This is so wu di fei hua. This this the way the world goes, live with it. I've seen professors put extra care and attention to rich students. While it is not justified as u dun choose the family background u're born in, U JUST HAVE TO FREAKING LIVE WITH IT AND UPGRADE URSELF.
In the meantime, try working harder urself and one day u can reach that level. Complaining and not doing anything pratical dun solve the shit u're facing.

Wah this thread is very negative, like a slug-fest.
I think guys should try to upgrade themselves and aim to be as attractive to the opposite gender as possible. No point blaming the other party if they don't find you attractive or eligible enough.
There is a pecking order. From what I can see, some guys are just more desirable than other guys. The desirable ones would have good looks, be highly educated, be well-established in their career, have great charm etc etc.

Hmm, so that way, they can always can get the best partner they can. Sounds like a good idea. I shall raise the bar for my expectations of the girl I would like from now onwards.

There is still many good Sg lady available. I think good sg lady are the one not coming forward tfor match making and doesn't take great initiative to know opposite sex.
While those we saw in article abt materialistic or unrealistic successful sg lady coming forward to match agency are the one spoiling market giving most sg lady a bad name!

If you really love the person would you mind doing all these things? if you do mind then ask yourself do you really love her.
And sg culture has always been this way. I don't see any disgrace in paying for meals, carry bags, etc. If you don't like it can emigrate all you want.

I personally feel that this topic is too emotional in that it gets both sexes in either defensive or aggressive modes. No man or woman would admit his flaws unreservedly, for we are all humans, not saints.
When we do admit our flaws, we always tend to justify or qualify our views and decisions by apportioning certain 'responsibility' to the other. We want to indemnify or mitigate our reasons for choosing otherwise, knowingly or not.
No one, based on what I have come across so far in other forums or other forms of mass media, has been able to be open, sincere and brave enough to admit their flaws honestly but humbly in topics like these.
I only dare to admit I'm not a highly-educated guy and I'm not exactly someone that would be able to measure up to what most SG gals would consider as 'gentle', 'humourous', 'understanding' etc when compared to foreign man.
If SG gals thinks SG guys can't measure up in any way, so be it. Likewise for guys.
I think the only neutral and simple thing is to do is to believe in this thing called 'Fate' and 'Equlibrium' as stated by one gal forummer here.
We can look at this in a positive way: More SG gals choosing foreign man means there would be more foreign girls left 'unchosen' by their local man.
So when they come here, by chance or not, their mindset would be more relaxed and less clouded by personal bias and SG men may one day realise that SG gals are constantly talking about how they are not measuring up and that they should upgrade themselves in whatever aspect, will be willing to change their flaws a bit, where necessary, to start a new life with the foreign women.
We learn from our choices. When it becomes a global trend, we will learn even more.
