Very well said. When things are within our control we can think
clearly and logically but at other times (eg if stricken with fatal
disease & a short time left in this world) one becomes easy
prey to people providing spiritual guidance as a way out of the
problem.

Originally posted by stupidissmart:

I do not agree with tis point though. Without religion, people
still have morals and know how to live in society. Tis can even be
explained from an evolution principle. People live in groups.
People who live better in group survive better. They will develop
traits tat allow them to live better in groups. And these traits r
simply morals, or how to live in society and ground

Without religion, there is no moral is such a sweeping statement.
There are many atheist today in the world who still live happily
and uphold morality. Religion is just an aspect of one's life. I
also realize nowadays that many of those into religions are not
upholding morality at all. Especially teenagers who claim they go
to church and all these whom i noe. they are still as selfish and
inconsiderate as they were. I dont want to quarrell or whatever
here, but just wanna say there are many paths in life, not just
one. The path is each and everyone's choice, and if everyone follow
the same path, there is chaos too.

But of course, religion is still important. Some people needs
religion to guide their lives. Its up to the indivisual to decide.
However, many wars has sparked off due to religion. There are
killings, slanderings and all kinds of evil you can think of when
war starts. If religions uphold morality and make people do good
things, why is there intolerance and discrimination that is not
even considered moral.

Let me see... Have you watched 10,000BC? In the past, people are
already living in groups. From groups to villages and finally to
cities. In those ancient "groups", they have their religion too.
And its that very religion that allows them to have their morals to
not kill each other in the same group. As they shares the same
belief AKA religion.

This boils down to a very old question whether moral code exists
first or religion exists first. If u ask me, moral code exists
first before a form of religion. This is because if they have no
moral, they cannot live in a group in the first place and even if
some guy have some facinating idea of a religion, he cannot spread
it to his people. In fact, religion comes about only when a group
live for a long period of time, so long tat it probably reaches
hundreds of years to develop communication and
language effectively then can a religion start
off.

questions abt GOD existent replied by Spawnie_ @ Sat, 08 Mar 2008 23:55:11 +0800

Religion and Science exist for different purposes but yet
explain the unexplained.

Religion is something that has existed for centuries. It all
started out when people in the past question about "what happen
when a man dies". So being the wisest in the town, the "wise" man
tried to explain the unexplained. And along with the years, parents
pass it on to childrens. This has become a root in many people and
this is where one's moral come about. Although it can never be
proven whether or not god existed, everyone must agree that -
without religion, we will be living in a chaotic world where moral
does not exist at all.

Science on the otherhand, are for the brave who ventures out to
the unknown. Personally, I believe in darwin's theory and about the
fittest survives. Cell mutates and its pretty obvious if you notice
the people around you. Evolution does happen around you. Science
can be used to explain many things but in the end, its a question
of whether you believe in your religion or science.

Actually, talking about religion and science is a very
troublesome topic. Religious people will question science and vice
versa. And in worst case scenarios, the religous people will get
offended because of the lack of evidence to prove their claims.. Oh
well..

There is a confidence level in the things u believe in. If u
talk about sciene like evolution, then the confidence level is
99.99 % If u talk about atomic structure or gravity, they r also
within tat level of confidence. If u talk about adam and eve, the
chances of it happening is probably 0.001% according to scientific
understanding.

U have the right to decide on watever is the truth, but the
recommendation is to follow the one tat is the mostly likely to be
the truth.

Anyway watched 10,000 BC yesterday. There is NO dinosaur in the
film. It is some ancient ostrich-like bird. The story reminds me of
Moses though and probably how Moses come about :p

questions abt GOD existent replied by stupidissmart @ Fri, 07 Mar 2008 11:19:31 +0800

didn't say theories are guesses......guesses are guesses
and theories are theories.....

in the end, everything in this world are considered
theories........theories are proven to the best of knowledge....but
sometimes that best of knowledge is not good enough....its just
like the laws of gravity which have been over the times been more
understood better....thats why i said it is up to each
individual.......

Pls lah - they are just stories - -

Stories told by humans which may or may not be true - but if
adam and eve is the first humans - then who tell the later
humans the story ? diaoz -

Anyway - it's hard to human to know the actual existence of the
world around us as - it's a world of uncertainity -

That's no right or wrong -

That's no purely Eastern thinking or purely Western thinking

Matter or Anti Matter

Chicken or Egg?

Mass Energy conservation - destroy mass get energy? energy
create mass?

Mass attract one another ? who say one ? y?

Everything exists as a in between - thus there
exists a balance -

Chaos theory ?

Man seeks for the truth, seeks for a comfort zone
to ascertain himself, which him seeking to move to a side of
extreme, it just creates more trouble for himself -

Why not seeks to believe in different things - create a balance
and understand appreciate the world as complex as it is and
not decide whether something is true or not -

if dunno - just say it is becoz of God - -
-

there are two sides two everything....just like you say how many
things in this world is not certain.....

i think that thinking that some stuffs happen becoz of god is ok
in a way....but i think most of them think differently.....there
are two sides to believing that stuffs happen becoz of god....one
is merely believing it and one is believing it becoz he thinks that
everything is a chain. becoz god created a certain matter, that
matter becomes a tool for men, men kills people with that tool
etc..........

the world really is full of uncertainty

Err. I'm curious about one thing. If Adam and Eve are the first
and only humans back then, and we are said to be descendents of the
couple, does it mean their children had committed incest before our
existence is possible?

Precisely my point. Anyone can help us out? Like explain this?

i was taught that they were assigned pairs......the first two
sets of twin didn't marry each other as in the 1st with the 1st and
the 2nd with the 2nd......hmmmmi think it goes on liddat....it
couldn't be counted as incest as there was no choice.......now it
would be incest becoz of the world population.....
