The idea of svelte Asian honeys with a decent education and adequate English skills looks great – on paper. (Much like Singapore itself, where the theory is far more attractive than the real thing.) But Singaporeans have taken the worst of all worlds, and created a uniquely charmless national character that is all their own.
The experience of being married to one of the island automatons was so bad that the idea of suicide seriously crossed my mind on literally dozens of occasions.
The day of our divorce – the happiest day of my life so far – coincided with her birthday. To this day, I make sure to send her a big bunch of roses every year on this most auspicious of anniversaries.

Increasing numbers of Singaporean men are marrying foreign women who are viewed as more demure and accommodating, a report said yesterday. Malaysians currently form the bulk of the foreign brides but Vietnamese and Chinese are gaining ground. Men queried by The Sunday Times said they want a woman who will put family and husband first, instead of demanding condominiums, cars and credit cards. Don says: Was once in China (Shenzen), not that many ladies, went to this bar/nightclub and alas sitting on the bar counter were some attactive looking women, I did the man thing and went over to say howzit. After the introductions sure enough they asked for a whole bottle of tequila and sure enough they were from Singapore with their as if western accents. When she says she’s from singapore …run don’t walk.

The problem is with men, they love and choose girls becoz of their look......blind love i would say.......know who you are marrying before marrying them......if you marry, have sex, then comlpain that they are very demanding, then its your fucking problem in the first place.....dun blame sg women....blame yourself for not knowing better

It really depends on the type of marriage you're looking for.
Isn't it a blessing to have a wife who can discuss politics and current affairs with you? My girlfriend is a tremendously intellectual person who has unique opinions on many issues, and this is probably one of the reasons why I'm so in love with her.
The guy featured in the article seems more interested in sex which isn't "mechanical".

after having chased after a few girls in singapore during my teens and early 20s, i say marrying a singaporean woman is not worth it...
what u pay is not what u get...
i have travelled to many countries, i must say the women there are simply more gorgeous
and the price u pay for them is well worth it...well some o them u dont even need to pay
a price....they come for who u are not yr wallet

you can go to every corner of the world and find women who are as you say not worth it......

Probably a universal phenomena for men and women alike.
Met some korean guys who reflect they'd never go for women their own kind. Reason being they're ugly, need to go under the knife, cannot even cook etc.
American guys and some Vietnamese colleagues born and bred in Oz and Nz prefer Korean women who are petite, gorgeous and more demure.
Irish and Australians prefer Asian women.
English men say too many of their own kinds like to 'up' themselves, are way too cocky for their liking.
Female ang moh expats mock at their own kind for 'going local' here in Singapore.
The list goes on.

unstable economy
Killing entrepuenership
what u can really do in singapore
1) contend with some minor 1st world comforts
2)Pay for a service called education which gives u a piece of paper stating yr meritocratic worth
3) worries after worries about yr future even if u are educated or not educated at all
Its easy to shoot him, but giving solutions is not easy. Both men and women from singapore emigrate
whats left are people who cant do the above due to their own limitations. In other words, whats left are scraps

Does it mean that Singapore has no hope for improvement given so many courses to upgrade yourself?Are u suggesting that all sggirls are so materialistic that if u are a beggar means confirm no wife?

1st red Part : Yes u can upgrade all u want but there is something fundamentally wrong with our society economically and politically eg. liberal FT policy, disruptive NS activities correct those problems first..
2nd red part: SG women dont want Basic needs, what they really want are EXCEEDING NEEDS like CARS< CREDIT CARDS< CONDOS.
Besides both men and women have problem meeting daily ends meets let alone retirement ( refer to the 1st part on why)
